Honestly I feel the same. I get too emotional and stressed when I have to perform, do a PR or are people counting on my performance. Last week’s deadlift, fur funsies, I had a mate slap me repeatedly in the back and I screamed lol. It was fun but for whatever reason I felt more focused, less anxious, and my form was better than on 190 and 180, and I felt I was in control, not stressing at all about the lift.

So maybe we ought to find ways to destress even if grunting and all is not proper gym etiquette ahahah

We’re all built different. I bitch and moan, but in reality I excel under that kind of pressure. Just the way I am built. Part of my pre-bitch/moan routine is done deliberately so that I am in the right mental place. It’s like it is just the right amount of stress, but not too much.

So I guess it went…as well as expected? A PR for sure at that weight, and hit double digits, which I basically demand of myself when doing AMRAP. I actually had to rest the two last reps on my front delts and take a deep breath…though that would kill the set, but I powered them up anyway. Equally interesting is that I moved the cardio sets up to 55 and did them with really good speed, and that is pure gold.

One of my boys tested positive for Covid. I was with him last Friday where I took him to the gym with me (he lives with his mother full time), and he was feeling a bit sick already then (which I cam to find out AFTER we were at the public gym). So I am in a bit of a self-quarantine for a bit. Will get a test tomorrow. In any event, no actual gym for at least a handful of days.

I punched Bob a bit yesterday for the first time in like a month. May have to do that for the next few days.
