Weird, but impressive

3rd week of Deadlifts at 190 TM. I think this is starting to make my hips a bit cranky, it’s like every other week they feel crappy. I just did the bare minimum as a result.

    • Barbell Deadlift

      • 90 kg x 5 reps
      • 105 kg x 5 reps
      • 125 kg x 5 reps
      • 140 kg x 3 reps
      • 155 kg x 3 reps
      • 170 kg x 1 reps
      • 190 kg x 1 reps
      • 140 kg x 5 reps
      • 140 kg x 5 reps
      • 140 kg x 5 reps
    • Muscle-Up

      • 2 reps
    • Preacher Curl

      • 30 lb x 20 reps
      • 40 lb x 20 reps
      • 40 lb x 20 reps
      • 30 lb x 20 reps
      • 30 lb x 20 reps

Have half a mind to take deads out of the rotation for a while and/or replace them with something else. I don’t really have any plans or goals for these anyway, other than not sucking completely at them. Guess I have a week to think it over.

U got a trap bar. Never used one myself but probably be a variation that feels nice on you

That is indeed one of the possibilities. Have used it extensively and quite like it.

Press looked pretty quick, looks like you have a little more in the tank.

Everything sub RPS 1 is quick

That was my first thought, too. My second thought was RDLs and farmer walk supersets.

We kid but there’s more and more evidence the RPE 8-9 is the top end of the sweet spot. On the balance of stimulus fatigue and other effects seems closer to failure is less effective

Ahahaha, that was a good one.

Sleepy today. More due to the fact that I was out a bit late last night, which is unusual for me. Have actually been sleeping a bit better overall, perhaps due to the melatonin and magnesium. Hard to be certain and may only be temporary. Dreams are more vivid though, wtf is that about.

Any, I would probably normally do push presses today, but due to general sleepiness and a desire to avoid too much spinal compression, I just did some relatively easy seated pressing.

  • Seated Barbell Press Behind Neck

    • 30 kg x 8 reps
    • 35 kg x 8 reps
    • 40 kg x 8 reps
    • 50 kg x 6 reps
    • 60 kg x 6 reps
    • 65 kg x 6 reps
    • 60 kg x 10 reps
  • Seated Barbell Shoulder Press

    • 40 kg x 5 reps
    • 50 kg x 5 reps
    • 60 kg x 5 reps
    • 70 kg x 5 reps
    • 60 kg x 10 reps
    • 40 kg x 15 reps
  • Muscle-Up

    • 3 reps
    • 3 reps
    • 3 reps
  • Upright Barbell Row

    • 60 lb x 12 reps
    • 60 lb x 12 reps
    • 60 lb x 12 reps
    • 60 lb x 12 reps
    • 60 lb x 12 reps

Also did a bunch more bro curls. Figure if I am going to be a bit on the heavy side, my as well try to take advantage for once. High rep, low weight, lots of burn. I don’t hate it too much.

Isn’t that a REM thing? Which is good if you’re getting more of?

That was actually my assumption. But that said, I have only been gradually loading up on the melatonin for about a week, so I want to be certain that it isn’t just me imagining shit.

It’s the magnesium - anytime I use zma it’s vivid for the first couple of days always interesting.

I’ve been using ZMA for years and still no dreams. Gutted man, they sound fun.

Most of mine involve me committing extraordinarily violent murder (the one that stuck with me worse was involved a serrated knife and neck/vocal chords, I can still “feel” it now).

Missing out isn’t always a bad thing!

Took Sunday off yet again, though Bob did get a bit of a smacking.

Squats today. Third week at 150. The rep was a smidge high, but more due to lack of focus than anything. Decided to rep out at 125, that was fine I guess, although it tells me that my max should probably be a little higher than it is. Oh well, would rather be good at repping sorta heavy weights to be honest.

    • Barbell Squat

      • 75 kg x 5 reps
      • 85 kg x 5 reps
      • 100 kg x 5 reps
      • 115 kg x 3 reps
      • 125 kg x 3 reps
      • 140 kg x 1 reps
      • 150 kg x 1 reps
      • 125 kg x 12 reps
      • 115 kg x 5 reps
      • 115 kg x 5 reps
    • Pull-Up

      • 5 reps
      • 5 reps
    • Muscle-Up

      • 3 reps

Sorta at a crossroads now with these squats. Not sure I want if I want to bump it up 5 more kilo, or change things up a bit.

*backs away slowly…

I know those dreams of comitting over the top violent murders and fights. Had them as a teenager and young adult a lot. I suppose we both aren’t overly violent people (right?), which probably makes it more shocking.
They completely stopped when I first started anti depressants. Didn’t do much else for me but not having to dream can be a relief.

Yea I’m generally a placid person (different when I used to drink, then I was a bit more violent, but in a generally playful way, never just beating up randomers, just scrapping with mates, but my playful enthusiasm was quick to get overenthusiastic).

I don’t harbour violent thoughts, but my dreams are messed up, in fact it’s not even zma (that just helps bring them to recall in technicolour!), Threw someone in a ditch and set them alight last night and I haven’t had zma in years.

Glad to see I’m not the only one though, although they’ve got the point where they don’t actually bother me anymore, my brains desensitized itself. Would be nice to have decent dreams for once though!

I don’t know how common these dreams are. I get the desensitization part, apart from a few outliers that really shook me, I had a similar experience. The whole thing disturbed me a lot, especially since I was so young when they started. I barely told anyone about it to this day and I think the first person I ever told was a therapist (not sure, might have been a friend first). Anyways, if it’s any consolation, I haven’t commit any violent murders to this day.

But I also don’t have these dreams anymore. Possibly due to medication, although not completely sure.
Which is not to say that you should or need to take medication obv.

These days it’s extremely rare for me to dream or at least remember a dream. I take no dreaming over the ones we are discussing any day of the week though.
