How heavy do the pulleys go? Could you do a single arm cable row to replace the too easy DB rows?
I am doing these single arm pulley rows at moment and really like them. Really get a good stretch at the bottom.
@Cyrrex has rings, right? I just got my rings from Titan. I hung them on the swing set for some trial and error. Pull ups are great. My wife showed me how to invert myself so that I was upside down and perfectly perpendicular to the ground. From that position, I was able to do a row that would be the complete opposite of a dip movement. Brutally hard. Who needs weights?
My son (7) does those on the rings. He weights nothing so makes it look way too easy!
So like a closed chain BW upright row? Feel nice on the shoulders?
To answer both questionsā¦I have access to rings at the gym, but I think I donāt quite understand the position you are describing, because it almost sounds like pullups on rings from a front lever position, and that canāt be right.
And as for the other question, I donāt think the pulley weights go anywhere near 48 kilo. I mean, they might be labeled as if they do, but they donāt.
Anyway, no biggie. I can still get more than enough effect out of the heavy DBs, so it isnāt really a problem that desperately needs a solution.
Doh, okay, you said perpindicular to the floor. I can almost visualize it now.
Yet another day that should have been a rest day, and yet another day where the boy insists on going to the gym. I mean, rest is overrated anyway amirite.
Deadlift day it is, then. Been using 180 for my TM for 3 weeks now, so time to bump it up to 185 (and everything else up 5 kilo, obviously).
Barbell Deadlift
- 85 kg x 5 reps
- 100 kg x 5 reps
- 120 kg x 5 reps
- 135 kg x 3 reps
- 150 kg x 3 reps
- 165 kg x 1 reps
- 185 kg x 1 reps
- 195 kg x 1 reps (joker)
- 140 kg x 5 reps
- 140 kg x 5 reps
- 140 kg x 5 reps
Everything nice and smooth. 195 for a single was no real trouble. This is starting to worry me.
Did some ab work and some broceps, but did not log it.
I hate it when I get unexpectedly stronger. Really bums me out.
No shit, it stinks.
Stop it your making me look bad!
What was your previous 1rm before pooping out your spine?
Yup, and especially when
In my case, it was my baby brother and his friends insisting we work out instead of rest, then my oldest nephew and his friends. Same rule applies though, and Iām healthier and a little younger at heart for it ![]()

Alright we get it ur big
Did I take a well needed break today? Why no, no I did not. Instead I added 5 kilo to each of the squat sets and had a surprisingly good squat session.

Everything felt pretty easy, and 155 went up no problem. Everything else was just filler while the boy finished his work.
Tomorrow I definitely am definitely going to take a day off definitely.
Guys! I didnāt do shit today.
So yeah, feeling pretty smug.
I hear constipation can afflict the elderly.
Actually, it improves bracing.
Alright, after a day off I am fresh and ready to go. So that probably means everything will be shit.

I canāt remember if I knew that the 110 kilo press was actually a PR for me two weeks ago? Well this clearly was today at 112.5. I actually had to Simo it for a second or two, but lucky for me I am triceps dominant. I managed to press it up to lockout and then held it there for five seconds just to show it who was boss (and also in case any onlookers wanted to count the plates). Was tough, but feels like I have a little more in me still. I am actually even more happy with the 90x8, that was hard as balls, especially after the PR. I kinda would like to try and bang out 10 at that weight one day as a topset.
Kinda looks like I am actually starting to build some traps and rear delts for once, and I think the press and push press focus is what is causing it (plus the assistance related to those lifts).
Being strong overhead builds an awesome physique that being strong horizontally just canāt match.
