there is an excellent weightlifting shoe review site somewhere.
The two most widely used shoes are the Adipower by Adidas and the Romaleos by Nike. You can’t go wrong with these two. Don’t make the mistake of going for the “cheaper” Adidas shoes (Adidas Powerlift) I bought a pair and the sole unglued at the tip of the toes after 3 weeks. The Adipower are very good though, many of my athletes use them.
My wife and a lot of the Crossfit athletes I train use the “Crossfit lifter” by Reebok. They are basically olympic lifting shoes with a softer front sole (but the same hard back sole) which allows you to do olympic lifts and jumps too whereas normal olympic lifting shoes are not great for jumping. I never tried those shoes but I heard nothing but good things.
Cheers perfect I bought the reebok lifter plus shoes (klokov wears these) as a Christmas gift for someone. I was going to buy the Adidas power trainer but not anymore. Thank you.

CT I have the crossfit by Reebok and I love em for the reasons you mentioned.
I have the Adipower & love them solely as an Olympic shoe…I can see the benefit of the crossfit shoe though.

How is the sizing with the adipowers? Is it the same as your normal size or did you have to go up or down a size?
Mine run about 1/2 size bigger than my other shoes. I’d order 1/2 size smaller.

Do you mean if I wear a size 12 in a running shoe, order an 11 1/2 in the adipowers?
Thanks for your help.

I use the Reebok Crossfit Lifter because for some strange reason they had my size on sale so I snagged them.
They work great for me.
For sizing, you want to go with what you wear as a dress shoe size. For some people that’s 1/2 size smaller, but not everyone.
I have the Nike Romaleo’s 2 and love them. No complaints at all. What made me lean to them was that Lu Xiaojun wore them
I also have a pair of Romaleo 2’s as well, and they are awesome. I ordered 1/2 a size smaller and they fit great. I highly recommend them.
I also own a pair of Romaleos and that was the best money I’ve spent in a lot of time – bought them at 10s which is my true shoe size and they fit like a glove.
I agree if you like them to be snug you should go with a 1/2 sizer smaller.
Looked the Romaleo’s up and people who own both those and the adipowers say to get the Romaleos if you have wider feet. I walk around on flippers so I might have to go that way. Plus they have some colours to choose from which is nice.
I really wanted the red/goldl Romaleos but they were sold out at the time. I went with the neon greenish looking ones. I will tell you this, they will turn some heads a the gym!
I recently decided to go with the Adidas Adipower and I have to say they are the best thing I have done for my squat and cleans/highpulls.
My feet feel like they are glued to the floor, so solid feleling. My back stays vertical on front squats, back squats are way better than before but I have long legs relative to my torso so I like front squats better.
Also I feel more explosive on my hang cleans which is awesome!!
Seriously, these are way better than I ever imagined. If anyone is thinking about getting a pair, try them out and you should be sold!
