Need help with Olympic bar as I broke the collars on my York one…
Anyway I ordered a bar from strengthshop.co.uk due to advice that they did good stuff from this site? got it and the knurling was all over the place sharp in some parts smooth in others. The guys at the store arranged collection and delivery of another bar. The next one, apart from looking like a used/second hand bar with the damage evident on the bar, had uneven collars. One side was so askew tha it went from 49.35mm down to 48.85mm. Basically on one side my spring lock collars did not get any purchase and could slide up and down the collar as much as possible without having to grip the handles.
I mention this only as I am so keen to get back training after an injury and need a bar and have already been set back 2 weeks by this debacle.
Anyway has anybody had any experience of equipment from Jordanfitness.co.uk as I was going to look into purchasing their “elite steel high performance Olympic bar (tested to exceed 750kg)” and I don’t really want to have to be stuck sending bars back an loose another week or so.
Any other recommendations would be helpful. Looking for a mid level entry bearing of brushing bar that can withstand a lot of dropping (I have York training bumpers) from doing olympic lifts 200-400GBP
which bar did you buy from strengthshop? The expensive one for £ 189 or the cheap for £ 89?
I was looking to buy the cheap bar as the reviews are good, but now I don´t know if its worth it.
I ordered 3 for our gym, one I had to send back as it arrived bent, and now after only 6 months 2 of them have issues with the bearings (the housing is bent) meaning they don’t spin properly and make a clonking sound. In fact, I’m calling Jordan on Monday to get these replaced as well. These bars have had moderate use, and have been used on platforms with bumper plates.
Maybe try Escape Fitness Bar or get another bar from York Strength.

I wouldn’t recommend the Jordan elite bar

I was seriously considering buying the spring steel shaft olympic weightlifting bar, just so I can do some power snatches at home, has anyone got this bar?
