Weight Class Changes in the IPF: Confirmed

I would do the same for your caber toss picture!

So, in a nutshell, I just spent the past few months dropping from 125kg to 110kg. Now I have to drop down to 105 to compete? Why doesn’t this surprise me?

Well shit, down to 231 I guess. This just seems like it really hurts the 275’s the worst, guys like Mike T. who are at the top of their weight class and monstering it up, he probably would have hit a 900 deadlift at 275 in the next few years…

Oh well 264 seems too fat for me right now but maybe in 2 years I can be relatively solid at that and hit something heavy when I am 23

As a 6’5, 275# powerlifter I fully support your decision

CC for president…I think germans can be president of US, right? Right?

Just when i was starting to tolerate USAPL/IPF again…LOL (at least they let me wear wrist wraps when I bench “raw”)…

I have one more USAPL meet this year (Dec 4th)then will have to decide what I want to do…at least we have plenty of other options here in Omaha

I gotta friend doing the Midwest then. I was going to go but its the weekend before Finals for me. I am up in Sioux City…wish I could go.

This will be my first time at Sr. States in several years (was living in MS for last 5 years) so I am really looking forward to it as it used to be a real good meet. I will be lifting 220 raw, bench only. Used to be an equipped full meet guy but I had a slight mishap that has set me back on squat and dl.

I definitely agree their need to be heavier classes. As a SHW I was going to try and get down to 275 over the next couple years. It really sucks when you go in and for example I weighed in at 315 at my first meet, then you see another guy walk in and weigh in at 370 and you have to to compete with him? Same goes for height but I think that evens out. I’m a strong squatter but a terrible bencher just because of how I’m proportioned.

I know there are several people where I train that are rather pissed about the change. Then again one used to be a 114 and was pissed when they went to 123

I got the email tonight as well. I wonder when they’ll post master and elite numbers.

my qualifier went up 7.5kg :frowning:

Guess you have a couple of months to fatten up then right? My elite went from 375 to ?? I was hoping to hit it this summer and was expecting to hit it at Provincials. The nice thing is I won’t have to hyper hydrate to make weight. I’m not going to bother trying to gain. I’m just going to sit back and enjoy the ride.

well i’m already fat, and i can likely put up that 505kg total right now, so i’m set. a few months ago it would have been an issue.

Very soon, we’ve got some numbers drafted up and are currently in discussion mode. A week I’d guess but don’t hold me to it.

It makes me laugh to see people whine about height…proportions…what else…leg size? fuck, it’s a sport…so what if someone is 5’3 and 90kg, and you’re 5’8 and 90kg…yes he can pack more muscle on at 90kg, yes he probably has better proportions for squat and bench, so what…Alex Ovechkin is more skilled than most in the NHL, his goals should only count for .5 right?

powerlifting has to be the whinniest god damn sport in the world

Slight. Cough.

I guess USAPL decided not to adopt the new regulations. Sweeeet.

It’s only a matter of time.
