How often should you weigh yourself? I know some who weigh themselves daily and others that do it weekly, or every couple weeks. I tried the daily thing and it just seems to be too crazy.
Depends on your goals. If you are trying to lose, say 30lbs, by april 20th, you should weight yourself atleast 4 times untill then. To make sure you are actually losing the right amounts. If you are just trying to get overall “hyoooooge” with no set dates in mind, you can check all you want or as little as you want.
Lately, every couple of days. I have been gaining weight, and this helps as a loose guide to what I am gaining, muscle or fat. It also works when losing. This in there with food logs and the like. Some are very stringent, some are not. It all depends on how closely you want to track your changes in habit and body composition.
Every Two weeks.
seriously though, there is no right answer to that one. Are you in a sport with weight classes, the days before a competition? then i would say every few hours.
are you trying to bulk? every couple of days might be right for you.
obsessively weighing yourself is not productive. you could be eating, preparing clean foods, lifting, training, sleeping, relaxing or a million other things with your time.
kind of a vague question, hope i helped a bit.
Once a week is good.
But, don’t forget to also check in with the mirrors. Visual evaluations will take into account things that the scale can’t (changes in body comp, hydration, etc.).
Measurements are also a big help in judging your progress.
Thanks for the responses guys, I am aiming to loose 20lbs in total by mid June. I’m currently 214lbs looking to be 200 by the end of May and 195lbs by june 15th.
I would say as a general rule once a week at the same time under the same conditions each time would be plenty to monitor progress.
if I weigh myself everyday I will get different numbers up and down throughout the week that do me little to no good

I say weekly at the most. PPl have a tendency to get scale blinded if they do more than this as weight tends to fluctuate on a daily basis.
Like has been stated same time and conditions as much as possible. Morning upon waking is usually the best

I weigh myself every time I’m in the gym. Not sure why really. I actually lost 2 pounds since getting back into things 3 weeks ago…although I am eating healthier and a ton more…but I’m also drinking a gallon of water a day as opposed to like 4 sodas – so I would guess I’ve shed some water weight.
