We Want John Davies

I think it’s impressive. Not that I would attempt it or recommend others to do the same. But you would need good balance and strength to pull off something like that.

Also, what does his “size” have to do with anything (I believe you commented on it earlier)? I’ve seen many guys that weren’t huge or muscular, yet they were still very athletic, strong and in good shape. Is muscle size correlated to ability or knowledge? If so, you better tell Charles Staley to hit the gym more. He’s definitely a coach with tremendous knowledge and ability, but he’s not huge and muscular. Maybe he needs another 30lbs.

The picture of Grant is funny. The G-spot, baby!

Because he hasn’t named names?

Agreed. I had hoped there would be a sample program as well…or at least show you how to put one together.

You must have something to say about them. Liked them? Didn’t like them?

we want more articles of Coach Davies!

Its been a long, long time since we saw an article by John Renegade Davies.
I am voting for-we want John Davies ASAP!!!

Not to dim your enthusiasm, cos I’m a big fan of Coach D myself, but I really don’t think it’s gonna happen. I read this entire thread about a week ago, and then corresponded with Coach D by e-mail. I would not presume to speak for him, but saying it’s highly unlikely would be an understatement.
On the other hand, his website has links to other articles he has done recently.
Peace.

What happened to John Davies?

Oh no, not AGAIN!

Wow, time flies.

While I was “away” when this thread was started I am glad someone restarted it so I can throw my two cents in.

Coach Davies is a good guy. I corresponded with him for a couple years getting much help with ideas and workouts. When he started his weekend sessions he invited myself and any members of the team I was on to attend for free. He obviously did not have to do this. Two of us were able to break away and we spent a weekend with him and others who prescribe to his techniques and it was quite beneficial.

I like what he teaches and the techniques he utilizes. If you disagree that is fine, then disagree. But to say RT is worthless because you do not like it, is in fact worthless. I miss his articles on here and would say T-Nation is worse off for him no longer contributing.

I think Koren Robinson worked with him prepping for the draft when he declared. CD turned an otherwise average college receiver IMO into a combine stud who has obviously not performed as he should have after the combine he turned in. I may be biased as a Seahawks fan regarding Koren…

Davies is hated by many in the S&C world. He’s the kind of guy that latches on to someone and cuts them down for all to hear after he gets what he needs, mainly increased exposure.

He has talked crap about the westside guys, to people including me. His reasoning was they advocate steroid usage for young kids. I know the westside guys, and they don’t do that. It’s funny coming from a guy who has also used.

Coach Davies has IMO unique ability among s&c experts to integrate all training aspects into sole purpose of winning in sports.
Other experts seem to focus on one or a few aspects-like max strength training, power
training,etc.
I am talking here about their articles on this site, not their actual work with athletes.
Also,I feel that coach Davies was great motivator.

I liked Coach Davies. I’d like to see more articles by him again.

BTW, I’ve had dealings in person with Wendler, James Smith, Dave Tate, Louie Simmons, and many other guys who write and post at Elite, since I also do.

I’ve talked to Eric Cressey more than a few times among others. I don’t Davies. I don’t think he has any special ideas, latches onto others, then talks crap about them after he’s done being their best buddy.

If you want to get strong talk to Dave Tate and his ilk first. If you want all around including biomechanical problems, talk to Cressey first, or possibly James Smith.

There are others also, it’s just I’ve dealt personally with these people.

If you want some silly info and feel like you’re in some special club, go to Davies site.

I have no dog in this fight. I like Cressey’s work and the only thing I know about Davies is his site saved me $50 on an xvest.

That being said, TWICE in this thread alone, you have tried to name drop which makes YOU more pathetic than you claim Davies to be.

It’s not name dropping. You can easily see who I am if you go over to Elite. I’m telling you who I deal with and what was said directly to me by Davies about people I deal with.

In a book/video Louie sold with Kent Johnson, he described Davies as his good friend. This was 1998. A few years later Louie and the Westside guys advocate steroid usage to kids, which Davies told me. This was when he was moving onto let’s train the x games guys with silly balance stuff time.

Believe what you want, but I don’t like the guy for specific reasons. And there are a lot more people than me in the same boat.

  1. I don’t care who are but apparently you care that we know. i.e., “you can easily see who I am by going over to Elite”.

  2. If it wasn’t about name dropping you wouldn’t have mentioned them twice in the same thread.

The explanation of your personal distaste for Davies seems very logical and, more important, valid to the discussion. The two vague look at me posts are not.
