Warp Speed Fat Loss = Ultimate Diet 2.0?

Shame. Two knowledgeable guys who contribute a lot going at it. I’d love to believe AC’s response but the “administrative error” is the oldest gag in the plagiarism book. Plus, books are read and checked and read and checked and then read and checked some more before they are published. No way this kind of stuff “gets missed”.

I’ve noticed that the people at the very top of this game ALWAYS give the credit to other people, their teachers, mentors etc. I always find that humble attitude endearing.

Not in this day an age in this industry. These books are usually slapped together with apparently no editing.

If you notice AC did give credit when he referenced this work in an earlier publication. He also gave credit and apologized when his mistake was discovered.

Have you purchased many books lately?

I find errors regularly, even in upper-level text books.

Not that it should happen, but the fact is that things like this do occasionally get overlooked.

THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION HERE IS: Why such brilliant mind as LMcD isn’t writing here for T-Nation? I really like his way of thinking and his style of writing. I would really appreciate if TC answers this.

As for my opinion about AC’s explanation goes, I think it’s BS (no disrespect to AC!). The paragraph is clearly a rip of from UD v2.0 and AC must have written reference. If he has written reference editors couldn’t have cut it out, because it’s easy to sue for plagiarism if they did that; and doing this without informing the author would make them responsible and with no doubt guilty in the court. I think AC is a great coach, but not so good as a nutritionist.

The simple answer is that he appears to hate my guts (which by itself isn’t a deal breaker).

He used to come on the site in our early days and as I recall, he wrote something that Charles Poliquin disagreed with.

Charles wrote Lyle some snarky response and it apparently pissed Lyle off and that was the last I heard of him.

While Alwyn is not blameless, let’s remember (as I mentioned earlier on this thread) the info in question is basic, basic, stuff.

I can see claiming intellectual property over some theory that Lyle originated, or some prose that was particularly elegant, but it was neither.

It’s a minor offense at worst.

TC,

You would get kicked out of college for anything like this.

Yeah, bummer that Lyle is being a whistle-blower, but really does he have a right to? Sure, someone re-wrote a good page or two from one of his books, without any sort of hint that it was paraphrased, and at the end it says he was influenced by Lyle, not that he changed a couple words and put down exactly what Lyle said.

Being that it is basic stuff he could have said it differently.

And yeah, something like this would not fly in any school anywhere in the country. You get an F, person who helped you gets an F, and hopefully your not kicked out of whatever program your in.

Seriously, this book wasn’t written in a day, sure people are busy, but I’m sure as Alwyn was re-writing Lyle’s work he could have put a few astrix’s and reminders on his drafts that what he wrote wasn’t his. But he didn’t he submitted it to his editors as-is and the editor had no idea where it came from, just that it was writing on a page and sounded/looked good.

So yeah, it’s Alwyn’s fault, Lyle could have handled it better, and hopefully something like this doesn’t happen again.

And this sort of thing is worse for those of us who have been through school and had similar things happen, you spend hours researching and writing your reports and then the next year a friend of yours is taking the same class, same assignment. Now if the guy just takes your paper and re-writes that shit, it’s a god damn insult and I would not be that persons friend anymore. But if he explained his situation and asked for my paper to help his write his paper, I would probably ablige, so long as the paper he writes sounds nothing like mine.

If I saw that my buddies paper was that similar to mine, I would be frickin’ pissed! Remain friends and all, but last time I let him use any of my resources…

I will bring it up again just to see if anybody has noticed, but from what I am hearing lately is that AC has plagiarized other material as well, specifically from Ian King. If you see any of the recent posts by Ian King on youtube, he outlines the stolen material very clearly.

I wonder how this will all turn out for AC, but it doesn’t seem like he is gonna make it outta this looking to clean.

are you kidding me freddy? Why the hell would you bump this thread? seriously stop posting

.greg.

IanKing has posted some videos on youtube showing some comparisons of work of two authors:

You’re kidding me right?

what’s next? I can’t teach someone different types of squats?

Either Ian is making a parody, or he’s not allowed to teach a bench press or any other variation there of, forever.

Wow
