Does eating warm/hot food in the morning jump start one’s metabolism and wake up the body better than cold food?
Does the heat change how the food reacts to the body?

Protein foods kick start more than carbs or fats since protein has the highest thermic effect of food (TEF)
Also exercise is the greateste metabolism enhancer. I suggest some type of phsyical activity first thing in the morning before you eat.
I also drink hot green tea every morning. That’s about it.
but what about when you wake up in the morning and feel like absolute shit. Eating some hot oatmeal is a way better boost to my system then cold oatmeal.
Wish I could put this in a better sentence.
Then eat hot oatmeal then.
If you like it better then go for it its very individual. When I wake its all ready 90+ degrees and last thing I want is some HOT oats LOL

When I was a teenager I used to leave my windows open in the winter while I slept… I read that breathing cold air burns more cals due to the fact that the air is warmed on the way to the lungs…
That is why if it is too cold and you breath it in you start to cough…
Food may be the same…
I read in a muscle mag a month or 2 ago that drinking cold water (I mean really cold) burns more cals over the long haul…
But hey I hate to eat first thing in the morning and so will eat what ever I think I can down and keep down…
lol if you do the math. If you drink ice cold water you burn 100000 calories or 100kcals per liter. So in a day if you drink a typical amount of like half a gallon, your end up burning about 150Calories.
if that sounds worth it, then by all means. If you drink a gallon thats near 300+Calories.
I think you may also want to think about how losing much body heat to a process like this may effect regulation of bmr. porbably not good, but who knows.
The only things i have seen is how much calories shivering burns whilst you sit upto your neck in a ice cold pool of water.
So, maybe some cold drinks? Dont be afraid to join the old coots swimming in winter. But is it really worth it? who cares…
Your body generally is getting rid of waste heat, under normal conditions, so drinking cold drinks may simply mean there is less heat to vent…
In any case, your body doesn’t much care whether your food is hot or not, though it may alter flavor and texture at times. I’m sure if you are a cold a nice hot bowl of chili would be nice.
However, it’s a heat wave these days, who wants hot food?
I could never get the ice cold water thing through my head. When you work out, your body temp increased and your body is trying to cool itself. So why would the body expend extra calories to warm cold water when the cold water is acting as a heat sink for the body, the water warms up regardless and cools down the body. Now if you were cold, say outside on a sub 60 degree day, then drink cold water, you body would expend the calories to warm the water up.
Does that make sense?
