WAR Hector Lombard!

Schwarz…I don’t know, bro. Lombard did get some good shots…the FEW times he actually did something. Boetsch threw more(leg kicks and all). Yeah…Lombard had edge in takedowns…but he didn’t do anything with it. You can argue he was “robbed” but you can’t argue that his performance just plain sucked ass.
I actually agree, one could certainly give Boetchida the win by outpointing.
So no robbery or somesuch.
The judging criteria are, after all, rather non-specific and both fighters know it.

I’m in the same boat as everyone, the MS what-the-fuck of the seas:

Why didn’t Hector press the action?
UFC-struck?
Did he think this was a 5-rounder?
Ancient Aliens?

Gonna check out some MMA conspiracy forae and go from there…

Yeah according to fightmetric Boetsch outstruck Lombard 2 to 1. Probably all of those kicks.

It honestly sounds like most of you have only watched Lombard highlight videos. Unless he flurries all of his fights pretty much are that boring and unimpressive, the dude is strong as shit though, Boetsch is stronger than most MW’s and he tossed him like he was a WW.
Dude for the nth time, I was his sparring partner for some time. I know how he fights, hits, trains etc etc and that’s not characteristic of him.

A lot of shitty fights that night so who knows

I’m sure he’s amazing in training, but I stand by what I said his actual fights sometimes look like that, meaning standing around, flurry etc… This fight had no flurries though, mostly because Boetsch front kicked and ran. Anyways, the prelims had some awesome fights at least. The arm triangle Riddle hit was awesome, that whole fight was, the Jimmo KO and the Caraway fight…

guys, guys… chill out!

Hector didn’t pushed the pace because he was saving himself for the tournament next round =)

that’s what happens when you stop fighting cans.

I have nothing against Lombard, i picked him to win, though not as decisively as some people did. I was also hoping for an exciting fight from those two, but Boetsch had a gameplan that somewhat stifled Lombards style and i think Hector was too content to wait for a good opportunity to counter with the big shot that never came. Either way, neither guy was very impressive.

On that note, so glad that the Hector Lombard hype train has finally been derailed. I like the guy but i see so many people on MMA sites claiming he will be the guy to beat Silva, which is silly. He doesnt have a single notable win on his record, Tim Boetsch (forgive me if im spelling his name wrong) is good but its sad that with as many fights as Lombard has, that is the toughest comp he’s faced to date.

Him standing in front of Anderson the way he did against Tim would be absolutely disastrous. Anderson would bob around him from outside Lombards range and blast him with long accurate shots. I also thing Anderson would be stronger in the clinch against Lombard than many people believe, and Lombard would have a hard time controlling him from the top if the fight went to the ground.

Either way, that was one of the worst UFC cards ive seen in quite some time, glad i went to a bar and watched rather than paying for it at home.

Oh, and Faber needs to go back to being that crazy, unorthodox, wild fighter that made him so popular in the WEC. His conservative style hes used the last couple years is going to get him nowhere with these taller, more dynamic strikers.

This.

Some people just get blinded by that big fish in a small pond effect. But just cause a fish is too big for the pond, doesnt mean its big enough for the ocean.

Here’s my theory:

first, you guys that say he’s just some dude crushing cans suck.
Anyone who fights sees him for the dangrous guys he is.

Second, didn’t his corner tell him that he’s doing great?
Maybe Zuffa promised him a title fight as long as he’d defeat Boetchida?
So the gameplan was, don’t get too cocky, → secure title shot?

Again, in my opinion he won by virtue of creating the only meaningful offensive actions throughout the fight, although I can see judges just going by statistics, which is even more ridiculous in MMA the in boxing.

I foresee a newly determined athlete, but also a smart promotion that will match him up next with some standup specialist.
Good for us fans.

He is a guy who has been crushing cans, he himself is obviously not a can, but that is what he’s been doing.

I don’t think so, Dana has always been big on winning impressively to secure title shots.

Disappointing card.

That’s all I’ve got to say.
sardines12 wrote:

Brock?

Granted, that was a case where the “public” was already sold on the fighter. Lombard probably needed to get over big.

Regards,

Robert A

I was not able to watch the card Saturday. I guess I didn’t miss mutch, except that my hopes and dreams of Silva vs Lombard got crushed.

Great.

I am now hoping for:

Lombard vs Bisbing (Only kind off. Originally I wanted to see Bisbing get starched. Now I sort of dread Bisbing winning.)

Lombard vs. Sonnen

And most of all…

Lombard vs. Hendo -Both have fantastic grappling/clinching pedigrees, and both like to bang. I wonder if the standup would look like Wanderlei vs Hendo 1 or Wandy vs Hendo 2?

Now, in the interest of comedy:

Umm…Miss Ninjaa, if you could please refrain from distracting the fighters until AFTER they perform in the cage it would be appreciated.

If not for me, do it for humble’s blood pressure.

Lesnar already had a huge fan base and he won semi impressively over Herring.

It’s only funny if I don’t already think you’re a douchebag.

Coming from you it just seems like a cry for acceptance.
