Yes, you’re right. Nobody here began lifting as a teenager. Congrats.
You asked the question, so why are you trying to correct the answers you’re getting?
You’re new to lifting, so you’re getting what we call “newbie gains.” That’s fine, and it might continue for a while longer, but you’re at an age where you can make huge progress by lifting smart and flooding your body with good quality calories.
You do need to eat more because you need to keep gaining muscular bodyweight. If you want to stay just as you are, and you’re happy with simply having some of the best abs in school, keep doing what you’re doing (but say goodbye to looking impressive to anyone who’s seen real muscle in person).
To actually achieve your goal, you’re going to have to gain muscular bodyweight (by eating plenty) and you’ll have to lift weights several days a week. There’s not one magical plan that makes people look like Frank Zane and a different magical plan that makes people look like Arnold Schwarzenegger or Dorian Yates.
If you really do want a “zane like physique”, maybe you should tell us what you’re going to do to get there? Or at least let us know what you’ve been doing for the last few months.
That pic above, by the way, is Zane around 24 years old. You seriously think you’ll surpass even that by the time you’re 19? There’s no rush at all, man.
Also, you could have gained 20lbs in less than half a year if you really do have the genetics for this.
NOT eating enough at the age of 16 when you have more potential is just a waste…especially when you have that goal.
Frank Zane does look amazing, but I would never, ever, bet my money on him not having used.
OP: Kid, you’re doing fantastic. Keep up the good work.
There’s really nothing more for me to say other than to listen to Prof X and Chris with an open mind. They know their shit.
Simply put: Lift heavier weights, eat more, and you’ll look closer to your ideal eventually.

I think he’s eaten a few more burgers than you.
I’m not even knocking you. At your age, I am sure you are more developed than many your own age.
But Zane was HUGE compared to you.
BTW, Prof X, that pic isn’t Ryan Reynolds.

Dude, you likely have the genes to be bigger than Zane. That wasn’t even the point. I have no doubt hat in a sea of sedentary video game players, someone like you is unique.
The thing is, to someone like me who grew up when people played outside, it isn’t that unique. I’ve seen it before…and you likely do have a lot of potential. I gained 20lbs in less than 2 months as a newb when I started eating and I am sure most or all of that was muscle at the time…and I kept gaining.
Zane wouldn’t have even been 180lbs looking like that without drugs.
Another red flag to anyone experienced is comparing someone like ZANE to Ryan Reynolds.
There’s about a planet’s worth of difference between them…and being able to see that will help you figure out exactly what your goal even is.
The guys you mentioned cover a huge range of physiques. It is strange that you see them as near the same.
look man i dont mean any disrespect or arrogance, am sorry if i sounded dat way. I really appreciate you all taking time to help me out here, and your posts are very helpfull. The guys i mentioned are my idols, i know theres a major difference but to me they are more desireable than guys like ronnie coleman. Once again i appreciate your help, sorry if i sounded disrespectfull
Dude, I don’t want to look like Ronnie Coleman.
Now, Vic Richards, maybe or Winklaar, but why think every bodybuilder is trying to look like Coleman?
My original physique goal was Renel Janvier. This is him when I was close to your age:
The bottom line is, yeah, you do show signs of decent genetics for this…if you would listen to people and eat enough to grow.
if not, then no.
You will end up like most of the people with decent genetics…not doing anything with them.

No, he mentioned Cap America as well…which is why I said he picked a wide range of physiques as if they were all close to each other.

your right, my comments were severely stupid…i was just trying to be optimistic, you guys give great advice, i have a long way to go, the i dont need to eat more comment was just out of defence, i thought i was gonna be insulted,… I spent lot of time on facebook, got lots of insults, mostly from black people making racial slurs at me cause am african…you guys are nice , mature and helpfull. Appreciate it,.so what changes do i need to my diet?
Dude, people will insult you because they see potential there. That always pisses people off who don’t have any.
Quit listening to haterz.
They will always be there.

When I was in high school (about 2400 people at my school), we had a bunch of athletes that looked just like you, and then a bunch more that looked better, or closer to the physiques you’re talking about (you mentioned quite a range of physiques btw). I think that’s sort of what X is getting at with the big fish/small pond thing. X is also totally right about Zane’s/ Chris Evan’s sizes. They’re alot bigger than you. Even Reynolds has a pretty decent amount of size on you.
All that being said, you’ve only been in the gym for 7 months. You’re doing fine. Just keep working/eating right, and tweak things later as is necessary. I’m sure you’re aware that none of the guys you mentioned got to where they are A) at your age, and B) after 7 months.
now im feeling guilty, iv bin acting like a douche…im a novice, i should be more respectfull…sorry about that guys, i feel like an ass now

x i think i owe you an apology…you gave good advice, im gonna eat a whole lot more now…so in your opinion what target would you think would be more realistic for me to shoot for? Also what and what should i work on? Thanks in advance for your help

im a fierce zane follower, if he did use, im gonna kill myself…who else am i gonna look up to?
Man, your goals are your own. No one picked Renel Janvier for me. He was my goal. If you want to look like Captain America, good for you…but Cap didn’t get that way in 7 months. He is one actor who has been in shape for several years whether he shows it off in a role or not. As an actor, he can’t just lift until he gets huge…and in real life, he would look even smaller.
So my advice is pick YOUR OWN GOALS…but don’t get caught up in movie magic because it is all fake.
Pick a real person and go after that goal.
Yeah, you probably do have the genes for this…but right now, you’re just a 16 year old kid with some abs who half assed his way to looking like that in half a freaking year.
You have the raw materials. You just need to learn what to do with them…and you won’t get that in one post.

God and your own goals?

you got nice abs. But, you look to be about 125lbs. Only go by what you’ve accomplished for youself. Nobody here knows what you have achieved, so be proud of what you have done. just keep doing what your doing. you probably need to gain another 40-50lbs to be at the frank zane body type, while maintaing the abs.
I personally aspire to be like Dorian Yates, but that’s just me.
OP, why don’t you simply admire yourself for putting the work to be your best self? Who knows, maybe after a couple of years of lifting, you’ll find yourself looking into the mirror and thinking “Holy shit, Zane can kiss my ass, I look so much better than him”. Just a thought.
OP, if you want to know what to change about your diet, list exactly what you ate yesterday.
(hah beat you to it Colucci!!)
X thankxz, you know your stuff. About half assing my way, dude you have no idea how hard i suffered, im in nigeria, nobody gives a fuck if i look like frank zane or if i look like rick ross or snoop dogg, only my mum supports me and weights down here are EXPENSIVE, i improvise, i use my money to buy my own food, i research every day and i consider myself quite knowledgeable, am asking you all cause you guys are more experiencd…my own goals are simply to be the best, i train five times a week, i use five sets of eight reps, train two muscles in a day, four exercises for each muscle and train each muscle twice a week. I practice sprinting, cycling and boxing. Rogue vampire i took these pics with a phone camera so im considerably reduced and smoothened out, i weigh about 145, i was 120 before. Once again, you guys are all very helpfull
