Vixens' Heavy Lifts

WOW! I am impressed by ALL those weights Jilly! Can’t wait to hear how it goes…! =D

My box squat went up 20 lbs from last week! YIPEE! =D I squatted 225 for a triple tonight! SOOO… I got a little excited (and clearly a little cocky after that lift) and went for 245 for a single… WELL… when I sat back on the box, I crumpled a little bit (didn’t keep my upper back tight enough) and so my spotter barely touched my shoulders and I squeezed my back together and got the weight up! He swore he didn’t touch the bar… I don’t remember (my adrenaline was pumping and it was a bit of a blur now) but anyway… disappointed that I let my form go to crap… but excited since I have never had that much weight on my back before! =D

Not sure if I am going to try 245 again next week or lift in a little higher rep range (maybe 225 for 4 or 5?) It felt pretty easy today… we will see! Anyway, just wanted to share my mini-accomplishment! =D

SO I was planning on just doing 5 sets of pullups as my first exercise for back today but ended up doing 10 sets and… exactly 100 reps!!
It went like this-
16,12,12,11,10- using the v-bar handle (close grip)
9,9,8- parallel grip
6,7- wide grip supinated (I guess you would call it a wide grip chinup?)

65 second rest between sets so it didn’t take too long either!

All were done just bodweight, so I think I am going to try and do them weighted next time… if I can manage to squeeze a dumbbell between my thighs!

Holy Crap! That is incredibly impressive!!! I am super jealous!!! =D

BTW, how’s the attempt to add mass coming along? You gained any lately? =D

It is going awesome! I was a little discouraged cuz when I weighed on Sunday it had not gone up, but I knew I was getting bigger and my strength was up all week. Added some more post workout carbs (more waxy maize and more quinoa in my post workout meal) and weighed again this morning and I was up almost 2 pounds so I am stoked. I am stuffed and bloated all day long but the strength gains in the gym are totally worth it!!

I’ve been silently lurking on your contest prep journal and it looks like things are going really well for you too!

Hey there! Don’t get discouraged! Stay at it! A 2 lb weight gain is awesome! You have to remember that most male bodybuilders three times your size would LOVE to gain 10 lbs of muscle in a YEAR! That’s less than a lb a month… and you just gained TWO… so you are doing great!

Thanks girl, yea I am now up a total of 17 pounds since the start of my “bulk”. While I know it aint all muscle, I am certainly happy that at least some of it must be since I have gotten a lot stronger. I want to gain another 20 or so… so it will be like a 40 pound bulk!!! haha that sounds so crazy.

And I saw the pictures you posted in your journal… you look ready to step on stage right now! seriosuly I would kill for your muscular physique! You are going to do awesome! If you win will you get a pro card???

Flipping the ~350-400lb tire today for 5 flips to simulate my upcoming contest. Still working on my form and speed, but I am improving.

Awesome job Jillybop! Looks KILLER! Forgive my ignorance… but will you actually be flipping a tire in your contest or just doing other similar strength moves?

Thanks for the compliment! I alternate between feeling like I have plenty of time and freaking out that I ONLY have 11.5 weeks left! haha =D

If I win this show, I will not get a pro card, but I WILL qualify to compete at a National Level. Then (as far as I know) you have to win (or maybe place top 2, can’t remember) at a National level show (like Jr. Nationals) to win your pro card.
So… we will see… gotta get past this first competition! =D

That looks great. What will the weight for the contest be? Do you have to do it for a set distance? Ours is 400lbs over 75’ for time.

It must be only a couple weeks away now right?

My contest is a 350lb tire for 50’ and a 400lb sled for 50’ as one event. It’s a week from this Saturday (8/2). Thanks for the kind words!

OK guys! Got my 245 box squat last night!!!

I did several warm up sets, and then did 235 for a double, 245 for a single, and then dropped back down and did 215 for a triple… WHEW!

So here it is! If you turn up the volume you can hear me yelling at my friend Jim, “I GOT IT!” I DID NOT want any help! haha =D

Here is my little powerhouse (5’) deadlifting 245lbs for 3 at 110lb b/w. Form needs some work but she has potential.

Keep up the good work, but be careful with the short-range heavy stuff. A little goes a long ways!
