Vixens' Heavy Lifts

I doubled 165lb on my bench today.

Good lifts by CVB and Scotty’s lady.

Nice thread ladies, keep it up.

Totally agree with that statement! When I watch these videos I get so ancy and excited about my next training session… sounds dumb but you all totally inspire me to lift heavy and get strong!

Thanks everyone. I love to bench. I just need to increase my deadlift

Unfortunately, the bench won’t help me win a powerlifting meet :frowning: I really thought I was going to be a good deadlifter. First time I tried deadlifting, I hit 210lb (148lb BW). But once I hit 265lb, I have had to fight for every lb I add. I am working on my technique and hopefully I can deadlift like you

You have a great squat too! Awesome job on the box squat.

Claire

Thanks Claire! I am really trying to work on my technique on all three lifts as well! It’s SO important… but there are so many freakin things to remember! “Pull your back together” “keep it tight” “drive your knees out” “sit back” “load the bar first, then drive through your heels” “squeeze your butt and push through the floor” “belly out” I mean holy shit! Haha… I can only concentrate on a couple of things at a time! Hopefully good technique will become a habit and more like second nature soon… but I’m sure I’ll always have room to improve =D

Thanks for the squat compliment! I think I tweaked my back a little last week… will take a week off from having a heavy load on my back and may try for 265 the week after (no box… just regular squat) =D

I have the same problem. I fix one thing and break another

I hope you back feels better and good luck on the 265lb squat

My max box squat is 215lb (with belt and knee sleeves) and my form was awful. I put heavy weight on my back and forget everything.

Claire

haha I feel you! It feels like everything I have ever known flies out of my brain with 200+ on my back! Luckily I have a very large man barking commands in my ear (sometimes SEVERAL guys barking things at me when I am lifting… haha) so that sometimes helps.

That’s awesome that you squatted 215… form was not so awesome, but that just means that with great form you can do a TON more! (That’s how I cast my ray on sunshine when I do a lift with shitty form… "Hmmm… If I STIFF-LEGGED the 315 up, and it came up pretty fast… I should DEFINITELY be able to pull 365 with better technique and form… ")

Will definitely update you on the 265 squat and will try to get video of it…

Nice job. No spot and no sound.

What are you using to film these lifts?

Thank you. I only ask for a spot when wearing equipment. Too many times a guy has grabbed me when I could have struggled through the lift.

I use a sony cybershot camera. There is sound but the noise you hear is a fan. My gyms music is pretty bad so you are better off hearing the fan

I was told I need to have someone yelling at me. Plenty of guys in my gym willing to yell at me but I am not so sure the advice would be correct

You did great on your 315lb deadlift. PRs never look pretty. I have been GMing my deadlifts and am trying to learn to push my hips forward. It will happen eventually.

I just posted this in my log, but I’ve been dying to post in this thread! I’m well on my way to squatting 225. Here is my 1RM tonight at 205

NICE COURT! You know yo have WAY more in you, right?!? You hardly even strained girl!!! You got 225 for sure! You just can’t psych yourself out… !

Also, I don’t know how much experience you have doing 1RM’s… it took me a long time to “learn how to strain”… 4 years ago, if something felt like I couldn’t do it, I would give up… now I have learned how to push through it… it may take 5 seconds to get a weight up… but DAMNIT I will fight those whole 5 seconds to get the lift! That’s awesome! Keep us posted! Can’t wait to watch you SMOKE 225!

That looked great Court!
As they tell me, it’s finally my turn now, that looked easy, you can totally do more, lol :stuck_out_tongue:
But really you did great, Congrats!

Thanks mmgal & ronda!

I know it looked easy. I thought that when I first saw the video too. It wasn’t! Four seconds to the top lol. My spotter thought if we’d thrown 215 on there I’d have squeezed it out, but after the 205 my legs were done. And I was a little hesitant last night since I haven’t trained legs in a week and a half and am still super tight through the hips.

But thanks for the support! I don’t have a whole lot of experience with 1RMs at all. I think next time I’ll just go for 225. It’s closer than even I thought! I was a little psyched out by how heavy the 205 felt when I unracked it. But, what’s another 20, or even 50lbs?

Court - Thank looked like a good solid lift. Congrats  You’ll get that 225lb soon.

I’m not trying to be a kiss ass, but:

*For a heavy lift, you had good depth on that squat.
*And good job on pushing out of the hole. I could see it was tough for you.
*I was waiting for you to add 10lbs, but I guess you left that part of the video out.

Good lift.
