Tonight I worked up to a heavy single squat at 205. My back wasn’t wanting me to test out any higher-tonight anyways:-) Molls I want to see the pics of you too!
Jilly
THANK you for showing me how it’s done!
Nicely.

I already posted it on my lifting log but I figured I would share it here as well. My short term goal is the bench 135 but so far I have gotten to 125. This video is 120 though… my camera battery died before I could record it.
Ronda, you made that look easy!
Thank you, Chaskb and zoro ![]()
Question for mmgalb and some of the other women who compete in figure… How do you handle your nutrition and keeping strength? So far I have either been focused on cutting (and feeling weak) or focused on strength (and eating too much and gaining a little fat). Any tips on how you’ve managed to get/stay lean while getting hella strong? TIA ![]()
Good question Jilly!
Well the answer is probably, “Don’t eat so much, fatass!” but I thought I’d ask just in case… ![]()
lol
LOL…Jillybop, I’m getting ready for my first comp in 5 weeks. I’m an etcomorph so staying lean hasn’t been a problem for me. Gaining muscle has been.
But from what I’ve been able to do in a short time has come from eating extremely clean (only 3 cheats since March), and lifting heavy. Low cardio as well, although my cardio is starting to pick up a bit now.
Not sure if that helps much or not. Hopefully Molly or one of the other girls will chime in.

Hey there!
Your second post was actually correct =D “don’t eat too much” =D haha
But seriously, in the off season I carb-cycle, and take in below maintenance on “off/recovery/cardio” days and take in a little above maintenance on training days (lower body days, or days when I am training a muscle group that I want to GROW are my HIGH carb/cal days… upper body or muscle groups that I want to maintain are moderate carb/cal days)…
I eat pretty clean all the time, and just increase my cals in the off-season… I can also usually maintain strength until about 6 weeks out from a show…
Hope this helps. Please let me know or PM me if you have any other questions!
Molly
ITMynx, thanks and good luck!
Molly, that makes a lot of sense. I need to dial it in like that. Thanks!
Hey all! Decided to do some heavy box squats tonight. It has been about 2 years since I have done them… I guess it was about time then, huh? =D
I got 205 for a set of 3 pretty easily. I struggled a bit on the last one… but I am just now getting back in the gym after a week off and feeling kinda weak. I am gonna go for 225 next week I think, once I get back in the groove.
Oh yeah, it looks like my friend Jim could be touching the bar, but for the record, he is NOT! He’s just about an inch or two below just in case I need him! He is a perfect spotter!
** oh yeah, and I need to keep working on my form OF COURSE!
Here it is! Enjoy! =D
I did a 245 DL for my 1RM PR today, but no video unfortunately, it was sort of unexpected…
That’s awesome Ronda! You are one STRONG woman! Congrats! =D
Can’t wait to hear about more big numbers from you in the future!

Thanks Molly!
I hope I have more big numbers to report soon ![]()
I don’t have any pics, but I trained strongman events today at TPS in Everett, MA.
Pulled a 500lb chain 50’
Conan’s wheel 360lbs for almost 1 full turn
Viking press 1 rep at 120lbs
Loaded a 116lb stone
I have so much further to go to get strong enough to be competitive, but it’s a start ![]()

500lb chain? I’d love to see that!
How’d you make out with the stone?
I hope you plan on taking lots of pictures when you do the comp ![]()
I had a session to see if I would be able to do the contest events (and not make a fool of myself). It was mostly a success.
The chain was so freakin heavy I almost didn’t think I was going to make it. The contest will be a 400lb sled (which slides easier than the chain), so I know I can do it. I have been sled dragging, but nothing as heavy as that chain.
The viking press was really hard, I failed several times at 120 and only managed the one rep. Unfortunately, the contest weight is 150, so I don’t think I can do it. ![]()
That was my first time with stones. Being short (5’1") definitely doesn’t help. I did the 116, but couldn’t even lap the 160 stone. I lapped the 145 keg, but couldn’t get it up onto the shelf (almost got it up). The contest weights are 116, 145, 145, 160, 175. Hopefully the contest height will be a little lower and I can get the 145’s up, too.
I’m the only LWW signed up for the show so far. It’s 3 weeks away!

Will you have an opportunity to train with those again before the competition?
That’s amazing with the chain. Our sled will only be 235lbs and when we trained with it, we were almost able to sprint.
It’s funny how the shape of an object can completely change how easy or difficult it is to pick up. One event in our press medley was a 67lb sand bag. With a barbell thats a nice warm up weight but with the sandbag I really struggled. The stones weren’t bad because I have orangutan arms.
Ya, Id say a 500lb chain IS pretty heavy, lol…
