Currently getting through Overlord,Bioshock and DiRT (PC) all great games with Bioshock being exceptional.
Im hoping to get Medieval Total War Kingdoms tomorrow and medal of Honor Airborne to look forwards too. There should be an awesome glut of games this winter to keep anyone satisfied
I’m sure most 360 owners are busy playing Halo 3. How is it? I have 360 but didn’t have an original XBox so I never played 1-2. I probably need to play through those first before trying 3 so I can understand the story.
I’m looking forward to the Zelda: Phantom Hourglass release on Monday for the DS. I think the touch screen controls are going to be a nice addition to the series. I probably won’t get it at launch since I’ve got a busy week of work ahead and won’t have time to play it, but will pick it up before my trip home to NY in two weeks.
Currently playing on 360:
All-Pro Football 2K8
NHL 2K7
NCAA Football 07
Currently playing on DS:
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Mario Kart DS
Halo 3 pretty much religiously, beat it almost 5 times. The game play is so addicting that it just cant get old.
Is anyone else excited about assassins creed? This games going to be sick as hell. Pretty much free roaming (you can climb anything, nothings unclimbable) and you have some sick ways of killing ppl
it will beat GOW2, mark my words
Ninja Gaiden (original Xbox) is a beautifully rendered game, but it makes me realize what a gaming wuss I am. I’ve spent 4 hours playing that game and never made it past the first boss Captain Nun-Chucks.
So I give up, and button mash my way thru a 1000 dead bodies on Dynasty Warriors (redemption?) and then switch to Halo.
I bought a new Xbox 360 and been playing the hell out of Halo 3, Crackdown and as a guilty pleasure massacring thousands of goblins on 99 Nights.
Figured I’d resurrect this thread to cut down on people posting separate topics on video games.
So, what’s everyone playing these days?
I’ve been spending a lot of time playing through The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass on the DS. The touch-screen controls are super-responsive, the graphics are good and the story is quality. Definitely a must-own for DS owners.
Speaking of must-own, the new Advance Wars just hit stores today for the DS. Dual Strike owned my life for several months, and with the gameplay virtually the same, I’m sure this will occupy just as much of time once I’m done with Zelda.
I’m also playing a lot of Guitar Hero II, Tiger Woods 08 and The Darkness on the 360.
Picked up a PSP the other day. Got the “slim” silver one that came bundled with a 1GB memory stick, Daxter, 5 episodes of Family Guy and an AC Adaptor. Not bad for $199.
Also picked up MLB 08’: The Show. If you like sports games, this is one of the best out there. The Road To The Show mode is like crack. It’s so addicting. You build up your created player through different challenges into a MLB player. The PSP version has in-game saves, too, which is awesome when playing a season or franchise (can’t save RTTS during a challenge, but can save after every game, which take only 5-10 min.)
Oh, and rented God of War: Chains Of Olympus. Holy crap! Best-looking portable game I’ve seen. Gameplay is great. I’ll probably end up buying it b/c it’s that good.
Almost done with Zelda on the DS and will start Advance Wars: Days of Ruin (another very addicting game) once I’m done with that.
My girlfriend came upon GameCube being liquidated at 70$ at WalMart and she bought me one.
I’ve been going through some of the GC’s library, mostly stuff that’s Nintendo exclusive, or games that weren’t available for the Xbox platform (such as “Killer 7”).
I’ve gone through F-Zero GX, opened up the races all the way to “Master” and am kinda stuck there.
Played Killer 7 all the way through. That’s one weird, twisted game. I kept playing it for the same reason you look at accidents when you drive by one: a kind of morbid fascination and curiosity. The gameplay itself is rather boring and repetitive.
Right now, I’m alternating between Viewtiful Joe (got it for the kids, but have been playing it more than they have) and Resident Evil 4.
I wasn’t a big fan of the RE series, but this one is very good. The play mechanics are much improved and you don’t get in situations where the camera placement prevents you from seeing where you’re shooting.
I also finally got to play God of War at my sister’s home last week. Pretty sweet game. We had a lot of fun taking turns going through the levels. For some reason, it made me want to play Ninja Gaiden Black again.
GameCube was always a bit underrated, IMO. That’s a good pickup. Most GC games can be had on the cheap now that Wii and DS are dominating most of the Nintendo fanbase’s time.
My only complaint with the PSP so far is that the battery doesn’t last very long. Guess I’m used to the DS where I can get 14-16 hours of gameplay on the lowest brightness setting. On the PSP, it’s about half of that. Still, a very well put-together handheld device.

I have the same silver one that you do and the battery lasts well over 5 hours at least. In fact, there has not been a time yet where I needed to use mine so much in a place where there was no electrical outlet. I usually keep it plugged in at work the entre time.
I really don’t see why a portable device would even need 14+ hours of energy unless you are hiking in the woods or deployed.
Like I said, I was just used to my DS, which has a longer battery life. Of course, it’s not running off UMD’s like the PSP, so that does make a difference as the carts don’t zap the battery too much.
I leave mine plugged in now when I use it at home.
I still have the old model PSP, but I’m going to upgrade soon since mine has seen better days. Sony is releasing a Red GoW-themed PSP in June that comes bundled with Chains of Olympus and some other stuff for $200, so I will most likely wait and buy it then.
I’ve been playing San Andreas a bit to get my GTA fix until GTA IV comes out next month. It’s one of the few older PS2 games that I still own and play sometimes, along with Shadow of the Colossus and Gran Turismo 4.

Gamestop trades them in and gives you credit on either a new one or on accessories. I traded mine in and I’m glad I did. Along with being slimmer than the old model, the picture is clearer and it loads faster. I would NOT get the black model though. It scratches easily and the marks left are very noticeable. I haven’t noticed scratches much at all on the silver ice model.
