I am without a gym for several months coming up and i am trying to construct a workout regime for this time period. Fortunately, I have access to dumbbells but pretty much nothing else. Can anyone think of any vertical pull movements that one can do with dumbbells, bodyweight, or bands? I dont have anyway of doing any type of pullup either. Thanks for your help.
so get a pull up bar.
???
why not do pullups on the top of your door? just a thought.

because it doesnt work. ive tried when i was younger. you just start swinging with the door and look like an ass.
hang on the door by your knees, or off of a top bunk or high shelf with someone holding your feet. Just pulled that outta my ass but it could work
pullovers
Also, buy something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Door-Pull-Exerciser-Ultimate-Home/dp/B000BU6U3A
Try to find one that you screw into the door frame. I don’t trust the tension-mounted ones.
Or forget about the vertical pull. You won’t be imbalanced if you only do rows for a couple months. Ignore the “movements not muscles” dogma and go back to training bodyparts for a while. Lats are lats.
thanks for the help everyone. i am in a sublet apartment of a friend that has no doors besides the door that enters into the apartment. since the ornery landlord has a clear vantage point of the said door i am unwilling to get my friend in trouble just to do pullups. i also came up with the idea of dumbbell cleans in addition to the upright rows. thanks for the help.
This one is temporary, as in, you put it up to do your pull-ups then take it down again:
thanks for the link bod. i will look into it.
At home, I do combinations of dumbell calf raises, squats, overhead press, deadlifts, curls, tricep expensions, pull overs, bench press, rowing, sit ups & leg raises.
Use a tree to do pullups
seriously no reason to pay money for a pullup bar unless you live somewhere with no ledges/trees
