Tobey won’t ever have to work again after this next movie.

someone that pretty shouldnt have to

Excuse me if I’m wrong [or this has been mentioned before] - but isn’t Eddie Brock supposed be a fairly obsessive strength trainer? How the hell is Topher Grace supposed to pass off as a hardcore lifter?

Edited to include actual information and a picture of that 700 pound bencher himself.

Known Superhuman Powers: The alien costume, which has grafted itself to the nervous system of Eddie Brock, somehow absorbed the powers of Spider-Man during its brief symbiotic relationship with him. These powers have now been transferred to Brock, so long as he wears the costume. Brock had conditioned himself to lift (press) almost 700 lbs. [/quote]

He was a photographer.

There are two major different story lines. They updated the Spiderman character in a newer “Ultimate” series. Marvel has been doing this with several comics like the X-men. It is a completely different take on the character and meant to bring it to a younger audience that didn’t grow up with him and doesn’t know the entire history.

In the Ultimate universe, he and Brock are the same age and the suit was designed as a military weapon. My guess is, that is what they will do here.

Where does it say he was a strength trainer?

EDIT: Thought you meant as an occupation.

There is also the Spiderman the animated series spin on the Venom story, in which Venom is an alien symbiote that attacched itself to spiderman went he save John Jameson when his spaceship crashlanded on the hudson river. I think including John Jameson on Spiderman 2 clues us into this storyline.

Yeah I could have worded it better, sorry.

Guess its to much to hope to see a superhero thats actually jacked. Though from the pics the bloke playing Sandman looks solid.

To ProfX: Cheers, I’m not a big spiderman reader so I didn’t know of the differences in storyline. Of course I never expected spidey to visit an alien planet in SM3, but didn’t know how much else changed in the “ultimate” story setting.

Yeah, imagine how many non-comic initiated movie fans would be scratching their heads if the Marvel Universe origin were adapted to the big screen. Battle World? Beyonder? Galactus? Who the hell are these poeple?

Speaking of foreshadowing characters, I’m surprised not to see The Lizard in any Spiderman film yet, Dr. Kurt Connors being mentioned in the first, and then appearing in the second movie.

Right now it would be impossible to do the proper origin of the Black Symbiote(sp?) suit because Spider Man originally got it in The Secret Wars. Topher grace is playing Sandman if I am not mistaken

It would all be worth it just to see the Beyonder’s jheri curl’d afro in IMAX.

You are mistaken. Thomas Hayden Church will be playing Sandman.

He will also not be drinking any fucking merlot.

Yeah, man. The Lizard was my favorite character. Morbius was another one I’d like to see, at some point.

He was also a star athlete when he was younger. He was always big and in shape. He got HUGE after he bonded with the symbiote.
