I checked out those articles and the workouts seem a lot smaller than the ones I do now. I usually time my rest periods between sets at 60 seconds. Is it safe to say that those other workouts are so intense I will not be able to time my rest periods?
Great general rule for rest periods is to rest as much as you need to, but as little as you have to. So don’t necessarily try to rush into the next set, but if you feel ready to go after 30 seconds or so, don’t sit around just because it hasn’t been a full 60 seconds or whatever.

It’s not about how intense the workouts are exactly, but a heavy set of 5 squats will (or at least should) require more rest than a set of 12 overhead presses. You’ll figure a lot of it out as you go. Learn to listen to your body, and try pushing it whenever you can. Learn to work instinctively, not strictly by the clock.
Im starting this new routine at the beginning of Feb. Imma cut this last week just cuz I know I will be putting on some fat. But Im really excited and I do appreciate the advice.

And as far as the functional strength comment… I just know it as being able to do things with your muscle (Play football, basketball with the boys, Run a quick mile, stuff like that)

Also a question for anyone with an answer…

I noticed in a lot of these bulking weight programs its usually 4 days of training a week only, I normally train 6-7 days a week.

Is the 3 days off a beginner thing? or do all bodybuilders take that much time off?

the best way to get noticed is to stand out, I got a shitload of help by arguing with apparently the best dudes on the forum, and now I thank them.

haha, why the FUCK is everyone so god damn serious around here??? Like for real, why would I care that BONEZ doesnt wanna “fuck with me”. If he doesnt wanna give me advice then whatevs, plenty of people will. And Im usually the one giving advice, hence the “ego” as you call it. On other forums (bodybuilding.com) I help out tons of people and Im NEVER a dick about it, if someone thinks they know stuff and they dont I DO NOT approach hostly. For instance, Chris has been a great deal of help, and told me to shut my mouth about certain things in a respectable way, there for he gains my respect. BONEZ called me a lunatic or some shit like that and then wanted an apology, like dude, ITS THE INTERNET, if you dont wanna deal with me, dont read my posts, and for those who do then GREAT, lets be fuckin BFF’s… I guess allz Im sayin is, this place needs to loosen up with the hierarchy of people. If someone wants to help great, if they dont, then thats their business.

Now me personally, Im gonna fuck around, have fun, make some buddies and get JACKED!!

ya dig?

Would you consider Pea Protein Isolate a complete protein? I am trying to eliminate my use of Whey Protein, as it has caused problems with my skin, but wanted to know what the best vegetarian substitute would be.
Pea, hemp, and rice protein are pretty much the three most common, complete vegetarian protein supplements. Vegan coaches Jay Ferruggia and Mike Mahler both speak highly of rice protein, and it seems to be their primary protein supplement (followed by pea protein).

During my vegetarian/vegan diet, I used rice protein and found it chalky (texture-wise) but very light and easily digestible. I didn’t get around to trying pea protein, but I did have hemp milk (not hemp protein powder). It really does taste like rope, and I’ve heard the powdered form isn’t much better.

So yeah, for a non-dairy protein, rice would be my first choice, then pea. As far as their amino acid profiles, like any protein supplement (egg vs. milk vs. whey, etc.) there are highlights and lower points. The bottom line is that they are all complete, which means any would be fine to include as a supplement to your daily whole foods.
Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it. I have ordered Pea Protein and am going to test that out. Hemp also looked good because of its healthy fat content. I guess I will also add some rice protein, and just cycle through them all.

Many people here are seriously hardcore… I’m not, you can check my log for proof of that… They don’t fuck around. Train as hard as guys like bones w/o being serious, you get seriously hurt. If you want to fuck around go to bodybuilding.com.

Your routine is perfect, for someone who intends on losing as much mass (fat and muscle) as possible. Read up on recovery. I think you’re skinny as shit and you’ll stay that way unless you drop the attitude and learn from those who’ve accomplished something.

Haha, well lets get this outta tha way right now. I aint skinny, 6’1" and 195 is not skinny, and my bodyfat is 12% ish.

And when I go to the gym I train hard to, and Ive never been injured, cuz my form is perfect. Ive cramped up from lifting, but I dont count that as injury. What I do know is I might lift with a different style, but I train just as hard as these guys, when I hit the gym I leave it all in there, 110%, any cliche you wanna use.

Now maybe I cant deadlift 485lbs, but Ive done deadlifts to the point that I couldnt sit down the next day cuz my hamstrings were so sore. I know this is a bulking and pure muscle building website, and most of my knowledge is for training for sports, like going to the gym so you can run faster, or hit harder, or fucking jump higher…

Unless you have bird bones, get past your denial…

Again, your question on 4 day splits. You were quite offensive.

Read up on recovery. Muscles don’t grow in the gym. Unless uh, augmented, high frequency will tear them down…

NOT A LOWER BODY in the bunch, but 4 variations of curls, and only pressing?

How about this:
SQUATS AND MILK…

Alternative explanation: you’re a troll…

Im a troll? Really?

Ive heard the term squats and milk before, but judging by your pictures maybe you should cut down on the milk, or try non-fat, maybe add some cardio in your routine, work of that beer belly…

Im all down to learn and shit, like Ive said before bulking isnt my area of expertise…but you come at me callin me names Im not about let it slide…

lose some weight grandpa…

Yep, I’m a old fat bastard…
No, a WEAK old fat bastard…

But I curl your bench (my weakest lift) and my bench is your bench plus your weak skinny ass…

Is that more along the lines of your troll speak?
You’re acting like a troll…

All knowing, name calling, disrespectful of established members(not me), no progress, why am I so weak?, but won’t listen to anyone who tries to help you… Yep, smells like a troll…

the only reason that Chris Collucci helped you out was because nobody else is going to help you out, and hence nobody was going to help you out, in about 2-3 months after trying to llift some weights you would have given up and went home crying and to comfort your self you would have ate a gallon on ice cream and hence would have begun the trend of one person joining the ever growing obestiy population of the united states.

also everyone is god damn serious around here becasue we actually give a fuck about ourselves, now that might contraindicate “you and your flat stomach” (note i said flat stomach, not abs) but we are serious about what we do, thats why we dont do “functional training” as you do,

if you dont want the advice from people that are the best at that, but instead are willing to rely on gettin it from “plenty of other people” that might not know it, then obviously you got issues

o and your usually the one give advice? you are tons of help to others? WOW, advice/ help on what? . . . . .
you have no fucking clue what your doing in the FUCKING weightroom or in the FUCKING kithen, you didnt even know that the kithen is as such a holy place as the weightroom

and your not a dick when you think others act like they know it all, hell BONEZ wasnt no dick about it either, dude just pointed you out for being a know it all, but in return you started acting like a dick, haha

and Chris helped you out so there for you respect him, but BONEZ didnt so there for you dnt respect him, neither of these guys are going for respect, and until you dont learn to give respect to people without them having to “earn” it from you, you aint going to get far in life kid, and i’ve been telling you to just fucking chill and not start up shit but your just a little kid looking for drama

and this is the internet, but you are fucking taking up server space or whatever when you fucking make stupid ass threads, and why is this place so serious? . . . . .
i think you should kow by know,

if you want to “fuck around, have fun, get jacked, be an ass, and make bffs” then i recommend you head on back you where you came from and where you were treated like a god, cause aint none of that shit gon happen here kid

i hope you fucking dig this

you never get injuried? and your form is perfect? wow, just WOW, i dont think i would get injured either if all i did was curls and flys and a machine directed ROM of a chest press, and as for you training hard . . . . . its just hard to believe coming froma guy like you

most of your knowledge is for sports? but you have no fucking idea of how recovery works, i can get a fat fuck to do deadlifts and make him feel it for the next 2 weeks, the dude wont be able to fucking walk or let alone sit for 2 weeks, but that doesnt mean that that dude got faster or stronger, or can jump higher, all we have seen are 20 sets of flys, 15 sets of curls, and a machine press and 1 free weight pressing movement, so how the fuck you train your lower body, i dont even want to know

and dont even bother trying to copy a lower body routine from anywhere else

@young n

you know I just had this HUGE fucking thing typed out, I was gonna tear your ass to shreds, its pretty obvious your just looking for a fight…

But I dont need to prove myself to someone that THINKS their the man…

Just like null bro, take out somma that aggression at the gym, maybe you’ll get somewhere in your training, you know, reach a goal…
