Vegetables with P+F meals

Should I be eating vegetables with my protien and fat meals.
I understand they are high in carbs.
For lunch I have chicken breast with Olive oil, and some boiled carrots and brockley, should I cut out the brockley and carrots???

there is nothing wrong with vegies w/ a P+F meal, but i would stick to greens, ditch the carrots(not entirely as they do have good qualities)start adding spinich and stuff of that nature. Also keep eating the brocoli…

By all means eat your veggies Jay!!! Unless you are on a strict low carb diet, veggies (for the most part) are NOT considered a high carb source due to their high fiber content. As Dave alluded to, try to steer clear of veggies such as carrots and corn and peas if you are indeed eating veggies with a P+F meal. Stick to the greens such as green beans, french cut green beans, broccoli, cauliflower and spinach. I tend to eat about 1.5-2 bags of frozen veggies per day. And I usually eat a veggie with EVERY meal.

It is better to eat the vegetables with a protein-carb meal. The fiber in the vegetables slows the absorbtion of the other carbs in the meal, decreasing the insulin response.

Fiber decreases the amount of fat absorbed in the same meal. If you eat fiber and flax oil at the same time, you won’t get all of the flax oil.

But I should add, in the end, it is better to eat vegetables than to not eat vegetables. If this is the only time you are able to eat vegetables, then eat them.

I wouldn’t have the carrots with P+F. Otherwise your good.
