One of the biggest things (to be a little more specific) is the possibly permanent alteration of SHBG (sex hormone binding globulin) concentrations. It’d take a full physiology text to explain why that’s bad, but suffice it to say it can cause a whole host of problems that wouldn’t just go away by stopping taking the pill.

After my 4th child I decided to have a vasectomy. Some pain, but I got over it. About 2 years later my wife and I decided to have it reversed. It cost 5k. I had some complications on the left side. The doctor felt that the left side would not produce any sperm. It is expected that it takes about 6 to 12 months before I could get my wife pregnant. 9 weeks later she was carrying number 5. We had 2 more for a total of 7 children.

As far as the reversal goes, it is surgery. It was painful, but it goes away. For about a year I could not wear boxers. But everything works just fine. I am 48 and I am as active as ever. Of course having 7 children (5 left at home) keeps me active.

For me the results out weigh the pain and any problems, I had 3 more children. They are all a blessing to me.

Having a big family is not for everyone. We are busy every day. My children are in church, sports. It is always easy to find someone to play catch, a game of cards, or watch a show. The hardest part is finding time with my wife.

Shortly after my seventh I had a vasectomy. Not my favorite thing to do, but I knew what to expect. Go in on a Friday, watch football all weekend on the couch with a bag of ice on my groin. Don?t lift for a couple of weeks. Plan it out and it is not so bad.

The second time was a bit different. Nobody at this clinic had seen a reversal before. Everyone came to watch, including the receptionist.

Not sure if you had a specific questions. If you do I will check this later and try an answer them or you can PM me.

Anyone ever had this reversed?

I had mine about 8 months ago…thinking we were done having kids. Both daughters are in school now and the wife and I have been casually discussing going for one more.

One thing that bothered me originally when I had a vesectomy was I felt she was pushing me that way so she could stop taking the pill which is harmfull to take in the mid-late thirties. Plus our relationship was rocky at that time.

Now things are back to normal, but I don’t know…If it works, then I go right back to another vasectomy AGAIN…which is an experience in itself![/quote]

Why, was it on his sac?

Yeah. It can cause permanent reproductive problems in some rare cases. And temporary difficulties are much more common. They tell couples who know they want to have children at a particular time to go off the pill and use condoms for a year before they want to start trying. It often takes a year before a woman’s hormones return to normal.

Some big families here. I only want 2 kids. Or 3 at the most. I feel I’ll be able to give them more financially and especially otherwise.

  5. Had #5 then got cut again.
  6. Got divorced, remarried five years later, and is contemplating kids again.

HOLY MOLEY!

I looked into it and it’s upwards of 15k for the reversal!

GOOD ! ! !

Had a reversal done 3 yrs ago. It was 5k. Sixteen needles in the balls and 3+ hours of surgery. It made the original vasectomy seem like a sweet blowjob in comparison. Brutal, trust me.
I was 9+ yrs from the vasectomy and in the end it didn’t take although it looked promising right afterward.

Wife #2 is actually ok with it-she knows what I went thru with the reversal procedure. She knows I tried all I could do and paid out the 5k and that’s the way it goes. We are happy raising my two kids from first marriage.

Bottom line: expensive and painful - but in our circumstance I am glad I tried it.

Funny side note-the doctor told me during surgery that he once had a guy come in while his wife waited outside. He told the doctor-do the whole procedure but DO NOT reattach the tubes. He told the doc to open him up check out that everything looked secure and then sew him back up!Apparently the guy just wanted to get his wife off his back so agreed to have a reversal done…while insuring he didn’t actually have it done!

WTF indeed. I don’t get it either. You had a vasectomy. You were told it couldn’t be reversed. Did you think about that? Or did you figure the doc was just kidding?
Your wife pushed you into this? WTF indeed.
Now 8 months (8 freaking months) later you want it reversed and have the nerve to complain about the price?

Also, didn’t you have some of your marines froozen in? Or did you wife talk you out of that?

You know what your weak spot is? It’s that thinking muscle between your ears.

Wow.

There’s just nothing funny down this road. Nothing.

Wow. That is way too rough. You mean you’ve never had a change of heart? Yeah, I had one, it sucked. But I have thought about getting it reversed. But I never did. Rockscar is just trying to get some feed back. Lighten up Dude!

You’ve show yourself over and over to be a big POS.

I was told it COULD be reversed and merely ASKED if anyone had had it done.

I was not PUSHED, it was my decision in the end. BTW this topic was a discussion we had and I merely posted questions about it. Very personal stuff I might add, and to add your BS like you did shows you have no class.

Yeah I was surprised by the reversal cost since the first procedure was so cheap.

There are plenty of people who’s lives change many times for many reasons.

You have no right to discredit my life and how I live.

Please feel free to continue to be a hating asshole and a big piece of wasted smelly trash, but do it in someone elses thread dickhead.

The only thing funny is some guy getting all worked up over one of my own personal decisions!

Interesting reply considering that this thread was dredged up a full year after it was originally posted by a psycho chick jilted by someone in the original thread, and then YOU come along to point out something like “THINK BEFORE YOU ACT”???

Forgive my ignorance, because I’m just a young guy…but why not just use condoms?

I don’t think I would ever want to deal with being neutered…whether I want kids or not (although I do understand RJ’s and Rockscar’s thing about not wanting their wives on birth control).

Just seems like an awful lot of trouble to go through.

Vasectomy: 2 hours of procedure and some discomfort.

Condoms: Waste of sex time, always have to stall, rip it open, stay up etc…Count this x 2,000 plus and how much time and money would we spend purchasing, finding, applying and discarding condoms for the rest of my reproducing life…no thanks.

Condoms suck!!! Big time. Getting my wife off of birthcontrol was a big improvement in our marriage. No one ever told us that it was such a libido killer. I have a vasectomy horror story too but bottom line I went home two hours later.

The problem is that after a few years it really hits home that you aren’t going to have any more kids. Sometimes one or both partners start wanting another baby it happens. But then you get over it (at least we did).

You had your nuts fucked with and you are putting your dick on the table here exposing something very personal. Cheers to you.

I have not had a vasectomy, but have researched the hell out of it as it will be the way to go once I give up on ANY idea of having more kids. The reversal and its success was the reason I have not had a vasectomy yet.

Adoption has been brought up and the only complaint I hear from men is that you are raising someone else?s kid. I get the fear/issue, but think of how much more man you really are when YOU STEP THE FUCK UP TO THE FUCKING PLATE AND ADOPT. Leave your nuts for play and adopt a child who is praying every night for someone to love him/her and you could be that man. You have a family and it sounds like you are fairly happy with the cards you have been dealt. If you really want more children, get a free ticket to heaven and adopt a child who is screaming, praying and crying every night to be a part of what you have to offer. Answer your prayers and a child?s and adopt.

Reach into your pants and see if you have the sack to ante up and adopt. I truly wish you the best and commend you for exposing yourself here in the manner you did. Take real fucking balls, now it is time to see what you are made of when the curve ball comes down the pipe.

Yeah, that should go without saying. But apparantly it doesn’t.

So I’ll say it again.

THINK BEFORE YOU ACT.

Or you’ll get stuck in Iraq.
