Vans vs. Chucks

Guys, I just can’t bring myself to buy a pair of Chucks. Just not my style. Anyone using Vans? Both have flat soles? Don’t like squatting and DL with my running shoes. I usually take them off and go barefoot, but my new gym (YMCA) won’t let me. Any suggestions?

Vans are good training shoes, they don’t wobble like runnning shoes and last ages. The flat wide sole is a benefit. I don’t know what Chucks are though. Alternatives to Vans are Etnies but they aren’t as good.

I got the Vans slip on low tops. Wore them today for speed DLs and they felt pretty good. I’d say order a half size down for them to be super snug; I didn’t, and they fit fine, but I think they’d be better if they were a little tighter on my feet.

I thought it was a Wanderlei silva vs chuck lidell thread

try wrestling shoes, theyre flat soled

I’ve worn Vans damn near my whole life. Ha, 37 and still skating. But yea, I think you’ll definitely like lifting in Vans. Keep it simple and go with something like the lowtop Old School. These don’t have a ton of cushion so you have good feel with them.

Here ya go Stiggy.

What do they call them in Wales?

I prefer Chucks.

Wrestling shoes are great:

I personally use Asics.

Thanks, guys. Time to buy some Vans. Maybe I can find my old red and black checker-boards from the 80’s. Some of the Hawaiian prints are cool also. Any chance of finding some Ocean Pacific athletic shorts to complete the retro look?

That would be sweet! An unstoppable force against and immovable object. That would be the end of all civilazation as we know it.

Adidas Sambas

I’ve got my vans on but they look like sneakers.

Ditto that. Sturdy enough for squats and flexible enough for calf raises, no problem.

Looks like I’ll be in the minority here, but…

I have Vans and Chucks, but prefer to wear the Chucks for squatting as I feel more “planted”. On days that I don’t squat, though, I like to wear the Vans as they’re a more comfortable shoe.

Someone here recommended those to me last year. They are the shit.

I plan on buying both in the near future. Black and red check vans and black chucks with a white pinstripe I saw in Sydney on the weekend…hmm slightly disturbed at how much I was just into shoes…I think I need to go watch some sports.
