The Nike Free 5.0 are still the best shoes I’ve trained in.
Chucks may be classic, but in my opinion, they’ve been outdone.

That’s what I use, work great for me.
Anything with a flat sole is fine. I bought a pair of chucks and they fell apart in a month, so I don’t like chucks.
Ditto for the wrestling shoes.

Do you wear them when you load through your feet?
The reason why I ask is that I’m a fan of the Nike Free for walking/running but I’m a bit concerned about the thickness and shape of the sole for stuff like rows and deadlifts.
I’m thinking that possible issues could be if it doesn’t compress evenly (it’s pretty thick foam) or that the elevation of the heel affects loading.
Cheers
I have tried both and have to say I prefer the Chuck’s for squat. At all other times I wear slip on vans, as there are no laces and I am damn lazy. If you are going to wear the vans to lift in do as DemiAjax suggested and get them a half size smaller. If you can find a Vans outlet store you can score great deals($10-$20) if you don’t mind horrifically ugly shoes. Vans has put out some dreadful shoes, which I brought for $10 at the local outlet store.

Yes. I wear them at all times in the gym now. As long as they make them, I plan on wearing them to train in.
I used to wrestle so I use my old wrestling shoes. Flat bottoms, and good support. Plus they look a little bit better than chucks. I usually laugh at the hippie kids walking around wearing chucks, so I can’t bring myself to wearing them in the gym.
