Comment: have felt pretty sick all week, but I felt a little bit better today. My plan is to do swings the next two days, take sunday off and then start a 10 week meet prep program. I’ve been good with my diet and I’m leaner. I need to be strict at least until the holidays and then do the anabolic solution until the meet. I’ve slept in in the morning trying to get over this cold. Happy to be back in columbus. This rotation’s gone well and I’m learning a lot.

Comment: had a couple days off an I was training a lot. The squats felt pretty good. I felt slow to start and it got faster as I went. I put on a doubled mini around my knees and my glutes were lit up. I struggled with the SSB. I’ve been sore in the back, chest, and now legs which isn’t surprising starting a new program. I’ve been a lot happier getting back to training with weights. I would like to keep some KB work in as cardio. I was really working on my rear delts because my upper back has some issues. The overhead press has felt a lot better. I’m looking forward to my training and making steady improvement over the next 9 weeks. Diet has been a serious issue over the holidays. I’m pretty disappointed regarding that aspect, but I just need to be smart and have some discipline. Weight hasn’t gone up, but it hasn’t gone down either. My anxiety over making a residency decision is starting to pick up as well.

Comment: I feel pretty good starting week 2. I would not say that I felt completely fresh going into this session. The weight all felt pretty easy and I was focused on being as explosive as possible. Between last week on the squats and this week I don’t think I’m as explosive as I’ve been in the past. I really want to keep implementing some KB swings because I think I feel better by doing them. I need to keep myself more accountable on walking in the morning. I think I’ve just been too sedentary the past couple weeks of this rotation and it’s contributing to my general feeling of dog crap.

Comment: I’m going to start to use an alphabetical grading system to say how I felt throughout the workout. I did not feel great with this training session. Cardio felt like crap, and I felt pretty nauseous. Deads were a struggle to get through and I just made my way through the accessory work. I think my goal is to get down to a lean 210. I’ve been cleaning up my diet for the past couple days and I haven’t felt great about where I am. I’m still happy with my training regimen. Comment: Overall, I was really pleased with this training session. I felt like I was moving the weight very quickly. I feel healthy, and I’ve been good on my diet overall for the past couple days. I feel like I’m getting a little stronger on the accessory work as well so I’m trying to gradually increase the weight on the lat work as well. I feel a little bit leaner, but I’m still grossly over where I would like to be. I can’t really complain about how today went. Tomorrow’s my last day of my peds sports med rotation. It’s been good being back in Columbus, and getting to see my fiance and family. I can’t believe that I’m getting married in a little over two months and that I’ll be graduating soon. It’s going to be an exciting year. Elite announced a pretty awesome strength seminar the same day of the meet I was originally thinking that I wanted to do. Comment: It’s been a weird week. I had my last residency interview at the University of Arizona out in Tucson. I went there because of my interest in Integrative Medicine and it was the only location outside of the midwest where I applied. I went in to the gym on Tuesday because I knew I’d be off traveling on Wednesday and not having a clue where anything was. I walked around AU’s campus on wednesday, had the interview Thursday and was like I need to take advantage of my time out here. I went and hiked one of the canyons and it was pretty strange. I was busting ass and half ran the course because I’m a pussy and was afraid of mountain lions after sundown. I made it back as the sun was setting and it was pretty. I then had to figure out where the closest gym was so I just found some random YMCA in downtown tucson. It was just old gringo me and a bunch of mexicans. I didn’t realize how tired I was but I got in to lift there around 8PM their time and 11PM my time. I didn’t eat shit and was dead. I flew back to Ohio Friday after going to the desert museum in the morning. This week will be mess week part 2. I fly down to Atlanta on Tuesday for my army inprocessing and I’ve never been more lost. I’m just hoping it goes kind of ok. My plan is to train tomorrow and I might pull double duties and throw in a little bit of Tuesdays bench session. I figure I won’t have any time to train on Tuesday and then I’ll just do my squat workout saturday when I’m home.

The meet: I talked to the guy who I was goign to the do the meet with and he decided to get married two weeks before and he’ll be on his honeymoon so that meet is off. I’m pretty pumped because now I’m goign to Elitefts’s seminar on the 28th and I’m already a mess from my own wedding that would be taking place two weeks later. This traveling has fucked up my training as well. I’m going to talk with my columbus training partners about doing a june RPS meet. That will be nice to get done right before residency starts. I’ll be back and forth between Columbus and Youngstown just about every damn weekend from here until my wedding. I can’t wait to get back into jiu jitsu next week and not have to leave the until my honeymoon.

Comment: I’m flying out to Atlanta tomorrow so I’m assuming I won’t be training until Saturday. I’m pretty anxious for this week and traveling tomorrow. I’m ready to be back in a routine.

Today’s training was questionable at best. The deads were pseudo explosive. They didn’t feel fast at all and they felt ugly. That was the case for my dead exercises. Bench felt fine. I paused every rep and they all went up fairly easy. I did a little hybrid on the accessory work. I’m pretty sure my diet will be off point the next couple days.

Comment: Jumps felt fine. I need to implement front squats and SSB in my training. I’m much weaker with both of those lifts compared to back squat. The conditioning killed me. The gym owner was giving me shit for being so bad with the sand bag. I’m happy I’m back in jiu jitsu. I need to make sure my diets locked down.

Thankful: for heat

Comment: this week has been going pretty well so far. Stress is manageable and training has felt pretty good. Diet’s been locked in for about a week and a half. Need to get some sleep.

Thankful: for more positive people this week
