V-Diet: Is More Better?

Hey all, let me begin by apologizing in advance if this has already been discussed, but there are so damn many VD posts, I don’t think I’ve found them all.

I know that Chris has stated many times that he recommends doing the Velocity Diet for only 4 weeks at a time. It sounds like a good rule but I’m curious, has anyone given it an extra 2 weeks or so? If so, did the results continue? Or did the progress stall out? Any adverse side-effects of the extension?

I’m currently on day 5 of my second stint on the V-Diet. The first time was approximately 2 years ago, I lost 17 lbs and was extremely impressed with the experience. But this time around, I feel like the element of personal challenge isn’t there. I did it once, I know I can do it, and now I’m just doing it to get rid of the fat I foolishly allowed back onto my body since then. Maybe an extra couple weeks would make this mountain a little higher and motivate me more… or maybe it would kill me. Any thoughts?

I don’t see why not, as long as you still have extra fat to lose. One idea though if you’re going to do an extended version- make your weekly meals more of a refeed. Don’t go all crazy, but maybe bigger than if you were only going the 28 days. This will help keep your metabolism kicking.

IMO and I think it has been stated best to take a break even a week prob two better eat at maint or even a touch higher reset that metabolism a bit and get mental rest then go again. you’ll see better results from the metabolism bumping up again before cutting the intake back.

thats my 2 cc

Thanks for the input guys. You’re probably right about taking a week or so off, but I guess I’m looking at it more from the standpoint of a mental challenge, to see if I have the discipline to actually do it. That being said, I’ve still got a little over three weeks left in the regular diet itself, so by day 28 I’ll probably look back at this idea and find it pretty retarded.

This is also true.

However… you have done this before so you may not need the mental break.
