USAPL Weight Classes

Anyone know off hand whether the local USAPL meets are using the new IPF weight classes? Particularly WA State? I did some quick looking at the various websites and it wasn’t readily apparent. I’m sitting right around 204 right now and was wondering if I can quit cutting or need to cut down to 198.

I’m a master’s (over 40) lifter.

The local meets in California are using the old weight classes.

I would contact your state USAPL association. They are here: 天博竞彩网_天博2022年竞彩比分_天博2022世界杯买球APP.

I don’t know of any local meets that use the new weight classes. Just national and international meets.

Ya, that’s what it looks like. WA state meet results used the old classes. That sucks, I was really hoping for a 205 class.

here in canada we are already using the new wieght classes its kind of a pain in the ass cause the classes are pretty inbetween the old ones

Nationals last year (2011) used the old weight classes. Were the 2012 National meets using the new ones?

It really puzzles me how an IPF affiliate, would not use the IPF weight classes… Kinda screws up their lifters that want to go to international competitions!

Thankfully, here in Canada the CPU (IPF affiliate in Canada) uses the new weight classes.

I think its pretty weird as well. I was really looking forward to the 205 class, 198 is getting pretty dang light for me, especially considering my last meet I had to cut for the 242’s.

Yes. And my reference to local meets was for ones in the US.

I agree. Odd.

So now I’m thoroughly confused because I noticed that USAPL Raw Nationals (August 2-4) is using the old weight classes even though Men’s, Women’s, and Masters’ used the new IPF ones this year. Does anyone know why this is?

Hey guys! I am going to be at the USAPL Nationals lifting and the weight classes are the traditional weight classes. The weight classes for this past Arnold were the NEW weight classes and NEXT YEARS nationals will be the new ones. I am not sure when the new ones will be implemented for local meets. (The intense capitalization was merely for clarity as I was super confused too.) Why though? Who knows…its pretty annoying IMHO.

I have since found out that it was merely an oversight that the USAPL did not include Raw Nats when it voted to have the national meets use the new IPF weight classes. Raw Nats will have the new weight classes next year.

I look forward to meeting you, BlackWidowGirl. Best of luck to you.

Interesting, good to know.

As far as local meets go, I’d like to see the weight classes change as well. It would definitely increase the number of lifters at each weight since the gaps are bigger.

Didn’t want to start a new thread but a friend of mine lifted yesterday and I thought she would lift today…anyway I wanted to watch but can’t find any footage…only livestreams of todays stuff is posted

Anyone know where I can watch the lifters from yesterday afternoon.
