Ups and Downs of Excessive Muscle Mass

agree with everything you said, its standard bodybuilding philo.

Pretty much 3 weight gainer shakes per day plus 3 meals, stop eating chicken try steak instead.
Add cheese to everything
Add eggs
Add sauce
Eat plenty of carbs

i think training 4 times per week for 60 mins is pretty minimal IMO for someone training for 10 years

He never asked for advice, he only stated that he maintains at 5000 calories he never said hes having trouble getting that much in.

Having said that i did not watch the video because its not something that i personally want to sit through but im not going to bash someone for actually trying to help people, unlike some people here that do not at all, just sit at their keyboards with their school girl strength levels and fat ass physiques.

If you have your own pictures and videos up showing you have a clue what you are talking about, feel free to criticize.

That right there is what I get annoyed at the most, but sometimes its not even just that, some of the people who have pictures think that just because they have pictures their advice really matters, when its obvious by those pictures that it doesnt.

I didnt start handing out advice and calling people out on this site until i was over 250lbs lol

Same here. Even when I first around that weight all I got was people with no pics calling that “fat”…despite reaching the same weight with abs coming in before I got hurt.

I think the OP likes attention…but just calling him out for it is dumb. There isn’t a bodybuilder alive who isn’t an exhibitionist to at least some small degree.

Well, I’m stalled at roughly 5000 per day, so that leads to the conclusion that I maintain at roughly 5000 per day.[/quote]

Holy shit brotha…how much do you weigh?

I don’t know if I even get 3000 calories in and I can hold about 195 at that weight.

Is rogue trolling on two accounts now?

I never troll. Spring time pics will be coming, in the next few weeks.

^Does that mean we will be getting Dark Ninja spring time pics as well? haha

You’ve been training for 10 years? Holy shit. 5,000 calories!!! That must be grueling.

Do you honestly think “solving” obesity is merely about going to gym? I’m not an expert but I don’t think telling fat people to go to the gym will fix their weight issues.

Why you mad though? This post made me smile because it’s always fun to see how much something so small can bother some people. I post a video with my thoughts on a fitness related topic and you get all up in arms without even knowing me. I’m not sure what that says about you, but it’s just funny to me.

You,my friend, are what people in United States call a douchebag.

I’m weighing 210 right now, shooting for 220 at the moment. I likely require more calories because more of my body is composed of muscle mass, which is more metabolically expensive than other types of bodily mass. Like I mentioned before, I’m an extreme ectomorph by nature, so to be big I have to carry more mass compared to a meso or an endo at my same height.

You mad too? I’ve done nothing by defend myself against a typical immature attack by stating facts. If you can’t handle that without attacking me too, well then I guess you’re one in the same as the other guy.

Dunno what all the attacks are about - I think it’s a pretty interesting topic and there’s no need to be a prick just because you don’t like it. Anyway, I’m not even that big but one problem I have noticed is that I have had to consciously change how I sleep - if I sleep how I used to do “naturally” then I get horrendous pins and needles in my arms. I had to switch it up so that I can sleep without that issue.

Your first sentence seems to be something that’s a problem on forums…people act like they own the place and talk much differently than they would if they were face to face with the person their responding to.

Are you talking about actual sleeping position? I know laying on your side isn’t that easy with broad shoulders!

Laying on my side is impossible unless I have my head resting on about 3 or 4 pillows. The wider those side delts get, the more you will have to give that up.

I remember wiping my face with my upper arm when it was hot during the summer as a kid. I can’t do that anymore. My shoulders just hit my cheek first.

I think Prof X has mentioned this before, but it seems there are ‘set-points’ for my body, especially when gaining. I remember being really skinny, and eating nearly 5500 kcal to get past 190lbs. Once I got past it, though, I can kind of ‘maintain’ 190 with about 3500 cals. It seems extreme caloric consumption is something, at least for me, I have to just do for short bursts to get over a hump, and then I can lower the cals back a more reasonable level and still make progress, if that makes sense.

Have you experienced this at all, 2020Wellness??

I was going to get into that…but the thread hate kept getting in the way.

That is why he needs that many calories. I was experiencing the same thing a few weeks back because of the accident and my body using resources just to recover.

It may take a HUGE amount of calories for him to push past that weight. It may not take him as many to maintain it though.

This is something most people probably won’t experience if they are always staying under 200lbs or never push much past it.

Obviously genetics come into play here with whether you can actually force more muscle mass by setting a new set point.

This is VERY interesting, and I might need to start a plan of action to get over this hump. I’ve bumped into this weight two times in my past, without getting past it. I don’t want this time to be another repeat… I’d really like to venture up to a new weight of 220!

I have a feeling fats are going to become a good friend of mine, as thats about the only way I can see myself sneaking in calories at this point. I’m pretty topped out in the P and C departments.

My goal was to set a weight, make sure I hit it and then solidify it based on if my body began to level off around that weight or if I was carrying too much fat.

For instance, right now, I may go up about 5 more pounds or so and hold that weight for a couple of months. If I hit that weight and my body fat is in check, I may go up more. If not, I’ll try to basically work on “recomp” even though I wouldn’t expect much visible change in only a couple of months holding the same weight.

That was essentially all “bulking up” was for me, pushing a new set point.

I remember weighing what I weigh right now a few years back and I was carrying way more fat. I have been past that weight a few times since and have always been leaner leading to now.

It is not something you do if you have a hard time losing any and all body fat.

Yeah actual sleeping position. Like X mentioned I need more pillows than I used to. I actually once injured my shoulder by sleeping like I used to after I gained weight. That sucked. I now do a kind of half side/front hybrid sleeping position where my arm on the underneath is tucked out of the way but kept straight. Hard to explain but it prevents most of the pins and needles I used to get!

Wow that stinks…I probably would take up golf if I had to do all that. Are you hungry for those calories or do you find yourself having to force them down?
