I will be playing basketball and running and doing other stuff to get myself into shape and improve my game.
So I dont think I should train my lowerbody 3x a week. Although I’m a beginner. But I think 2x a week will still work very well.
But the thing is, I think I can train my upperbody 3x a week.
I’ve read WFSB by DeFranco. In that program he works the upperbody twice a week but lowerbody once a week.
So I was thinking…will this work?
Monday: Upperbody
Tuesday: Lowerbody
Wednesday: Upperbody
Thursday: Rest
Friday: Upperbody
Saturday: Lowerbody
Sunday: Rest

I don’t think there is any need to do upper body three times a week; unless of course you devise some plan that will seperate upper body muscle groups that will work to your advantage.

How much basketball and running will you be doing along with the above listed workouts?
What sort of lowerbody moevements are you intending on utilizing? What kind of rep ranges?
