BW is roughly 210, give or take 5 pounds.

Life’s been good, new job, new place, son is getting bigger… Life is good.

Lots of cardio lately and focusing on strength for a bench only and DL only events in August. Hoping for a 400+ bench and 600+ DL in the 198 class.

Will update later but have been refocused on gaining strength and doing lots of intense cardio and it seems to be paying off… Plus eating everything in sight.

Training for a comp coming up and hoping to hit a 400+ bench and 600+ DL while cutting weight to make the 198 class.

Been running 531 for the big lift progression. This week was the 531 week and on my 1+ set for DL I hit 455x6 and on 1+ set for bench I hit 315x8

Big improvements week to week on strength and apparently it’s carrying over to physique as well.

I’m impressed. Your current physique/numbers are pretty much where I’m trying to be in the next 6-9 months. I only just recently hit 315 for 1 on the bench, so you’ve got me by quite a bit there.

Killing it man. 315x8 is pretty damn impressive. My best is 315x2 haha. Damn i wish i could bench more. Good work man.

What type of intense cardio are you doing?

Hey guys, thanks for the kind words.

I finally got picked up with the fire department and have been doing lots of “cardio” at work. At my department, part of the probation is doing workouts that they call “the gauntlet.” It’s basically giant cardio sessions of “functional” movements in all your gear to get used to the weight, extra heat and lack of mobility that turn outs and a BA cause.

It’s an hour every morning at work of running laps, pulling hose, chopping wood, flipping a tire, carrying bundles of hose up and down the stairs, sledge hammer on the tire, dragging the tire, burpees, wind sprints, push ups, lunges, pull ups etc. etc. etc.

Do that every shift for an hour in the morning and then lift in the evenings. Plus whatever calls you have during the day, plus going to the tower and drilling. Lots of work in and out of gear all day long. For example, in my full kit plus a hose bundle I weigh over 300lbs and will do 400meter runs in that… That sort of thing.

Anyway, I think all of that work coupled with a renewed pursuit of strength has lead to a lot of gains.

Within the last month or two I’ve hit a 525 DL, 475x7 DL, 300lb incline press, 315x8, 365x1 and I just started squatting again last week after a 6 month lay off from anything heavy while getting my leg work from the gauntlets. Wanted to start squatting again and hit 455x1 for a relatively easy single. My first 531 workout back I hit 350x10, then that evening I tried to max out on front squats for the heck of it and hit 375x1 and just missed on a 405 FS.

So things are going good. No diet laid out at all, just a “see food” type of deal. Work has me pretty hungry so I just eat all day whenever I can lol
