Captain America=Weak bodied strong hearted man turned into perfect athlete

Hulk=Some guy with split personality blown up and turns into really pissed off green monster who “smashes”

No need to incorporate Cap’s origin into the Hulk at all, maybe a throw away line here or there to set up the next film but come on

But they are related. In the Ultimate storyline, finding Cap’s body is a major drive for Banner…because the details of the serum were lost and his body would be the only clue to what they actually injected him with. Banner wants access to it because he believes it will give him control over the Hulk.

Actually…the hulk is a result of Banners failed attempt at replicating the ss serum…when cap is found, they planned to just copy his formula since Banners was so unstable…end geek mode…I love comic book talk

See and here I thought Banner was testing a new bomb and a kid got in the way so Banner pushed said kid into a fox hole and Banner got his ass blown up. Tried true and original keep it nice and simple no need to incorporate the Ultimate universe bs that Bendis is force feeidng the sheep

I take it you don’t like the Ultimate Universe?
Not really it’s like watching a Kevin Smith movie, people speaking in ways that people don’t and nothing is really resolved.
Like life…lol. I happen to like his take on things, especially what he did with the Ultimates…but I’m not all that impressed with Ultimates 3 though to be honest.

This is what the ultimates line reminds me of.

So unfair…thats Liefeld and not all of IMAGE was like that

Liefeld was one of the original, it was him Mcfarlane, Lee, Silvestrie(sp) and Larsen. It’s just the whole we’re better than you pompous douche feel I get from them and Alex Ross, and Alan Moore.

Them I don’t see that but you’re definitely right about Ross. Some interviews he’s given just annoy me to no end but his stuff is ace.

Thor winning a fight? LOL not likely. This is 2008, not the 80’s. Gods who spend their past times drinking, fucking, and fighting FROST GIANTS don’t win fights. Especially against feral Canadians with knives sticking out of his hands.

Wait a minute… so Thor COULD have won a fight in the 80’s against Wolverine…but currently can’t serve a drunk Tony Stark?

Not so sure I agree.

Me either. Thor is cool, but he isn’t ALL POWERFUL. I mean, he still asks his father for permission to do some things before he acts (even though he often goes against it). Thor was a man first, right? That aspect is what the Ultimate Universe seems to focus on. Most in the newer comics (including Nick Fury) think he is just a crazy person with extreme supernatural powers who THINKS he is a God. I actually like that angle. It adds to that whole mental aspect of being who he is.

Thor is pretty close to all powerful in the REAL Marvel universe, the 616. You are spot on though with your description of Thor in the Ultimates.

In the 616 universe (ahem…the REAL Marvel universe…ha ha!), Thor was NEVER a man. Even in the Ultimates, I think Thor was always a God…but it was Loki and his reality modifying powers that made even Thor sometimes question if he really was a God.

My apologies for being such a geek and being so “literal” with the definitions of which universe is being spoken of. I just feel compelled to defend my favorite character. Even if I don’t like the Ultimate Universe…I still follow it religiously because there are some really really cool interpretations there and a definite “rougher” edge to them.
Ultimate Universe: By the end of one of the story arcs, everyone pretty much believes Thor is a god (or at least not from their earth) because he was able to bring down warriors from Asgard along with other help from his father Odin to combat Loki and his comrades.

To Professor X: You might be thinking of Hercules. He was originally a mortal although an incredibly strong one and was able to obtain immortality from his father Zeus through his 12 labors.

I thought Thor’s original alter ego was a Doctor?

Yes Odin got pissed and inprisoned him in the body of Donald Blake, then it turned out Blake wasn’t real and Odin released the enchantment and bestowed the change to Beta Ray Bill. Thor in the 80’s-90’s was bad ass I loved the storyline where Hela took away Thor’s invulnerability and he had to wear armor or when Loki kidnapped Iceman of X-Factor so he could create a permanent winter in Valhalla. Ahh my Thor run how I miss it

. . . wasn’t that around the same time Thor was transformed into a frog for an issue . . . ?

Srsly, Thor’s has had a few bum runs, but he almost always gets brought back to his place at the Marvel table . . . behind Hulk.

In ultimate universe, he had a day job as a nurse until he realized that he was Thor. Man, how would you like that epiphany?

In universe 616, he had an alterego (Don Blake), but as previously pointed out was not real. Although, I can go back and forth on what is real or not since Don Blake has shown up again recently.

Oh and the ulimate universe, prior to ultimates 3, was much better than Heroes Reborn, in my opinion. They may have jumped the shark though with Ultimates3 from what I have read based on reviews of some issues.

Still there maybe hope regarding ultimates #3: If you don’t want to see spoilers/speculation, then don’t follow the link:

The problem with the ultimates line and plots is they are not conducive to long breaks in supply which they are famous for ex. ultimate hulk vs ultimate wolverine. That is why I wait for the graphic novels. It is a much longer wait (years), but I don’t get frustrated as much either.

Dr. Blake. (Not from MASH).

First one is for those interested in the ultimate universe.

Second link explains the Dr. Blake/Thor relationship. It sounds like they are two separate people but live each other’s experiences, just not separate cognition when non-corporeal. Similar to the old Rick Jones-Captain Marvel relationship except they had separate cognition when one is non-corporeal.

Man, I am geeking out here. Sorry.

Thor rebuilds Asgard in Oklahoma, paying for the land with Asgardian treasure.

I have missed quite a bit in the past few years!

I tend not to like all the parallel universe interpretations. It becomes too much of a mind fuck. Just stick with one damn universe, you bastards!

There’s nothing to ruin because there has yet to be a decent Punisher movie. It’s really painting a turd a different color again.
