Unspeakable Evil

It sounds like your parents have been misinformed. Gently try to educate them with respectable sources on the true nature of high protein diets, i.e. find the recent studies mentioned here on T-mag showing high protein diets are a) beneficial for athletes and b) only a problem for people with kidney disease. Finding information on high meal frequency being healthy should be a lot easier. If they still insist on you eating only a regular diet three times a day, etc., respect their wishes until you are out on your own. Telling them off and that you will do as the wish with your money and body, etc., is counterproductive in the long run. Look, you will be old enough to leave home soon. One more year of suboptimal training will not be the end of the world. Being contentious and sneaking behind their backs will only damage your character, the condition of which is of infinitely greater importance than the condition of your body. Frankly, honoring difficult parents is one of the best things possible for perfecting your character, and that improved character will, in the long run, serve your physical goals better than rebelling right now. Read Testosterone issue 2 (the paper mag) and see how many top bodybuilders talk about character-related errors on their parts being among their biggest mistakes.

My parents (Mum) were initially pretty put-off with all this ‘stuff’ I started taking. Won my Dad over easily, but Mum took a bit longer… they’re pretty cool with it now though, just takes times and patience. Having said that, they’d probably both shit a big-ass-brick if they knew the non-descript container in their fridge with ‘creatine’ scrawled on the side (by me…) was actualy full of powdered clenbuterol… HAHAHAH…! Mark-AUS

the menendez brothers had a similar problem. they solved their problem and now they get to workout all day.

I was flipping through an old MM2k(Jan97) & dreaming about how wonderful it would be to be able to Andre Benoit’s ‘Flying Squirrel’ back routine & saw this UDO ERASMUS interview. If the stuff that DiPasquale (who is no longer @ UofT) has published doesn’t convince them that fat is good UDO ERASMUS will. He’s written ‘Fats That Heal, Fats That Kill’ which is even popular with the general health population. Your parents might be more receptive to Udo’s ideas. After 28 yrs of being a chemist/biochemist/nutritionist/geneticist & studying fats exclusively, Udo says that a low fat diet does everything from stunt growth in children, sterilize males, cause miscarriages, & other bad stuff. He’s also the reason we use flaxseed oil in our diets. Do a search on him & see what you find. That gives me an idea, why not a T-Mag interview w/UDO ERASMUS??

NOTE FROM MODERATOR- WE’VE ALREADY INTERVIEWED UDO.

If they still aren’t about to budge, try this technique. When I was a freshman (almost 3 years ago), I smoked a lot of pot. I also drank a bit too. For one thing, an ounce of pot is much harder to hide than an ounce of protein. So instead of going in the stalls between classes and loading a bowl, load a shaker of protein and toke it… I mean drink it up. I also used to say I was going to the movies a lot. Do you know how hard it was to sneek a bong in my pants with my parents there in the car? How about convincing them that your eyes aren’t glazed over (from that last “workout”)?. It’s probably easier to smuggle a sandwich. Now, I don’t smoke anymore. This whole lifestyle thing that your parents are keeping you from got to me and I haven’t smoked (pot) in over a year and am even considering to stop drinking totally. My point is, what Mommy and Daddy don’t know, won’t hurt them…in this case.
P.S. - I actually got caught a couple times, just don’t let the cops search you when you have protein parafenailia on you. Good Luck.

This is the typical 17 year old mentality. “I’m fucked, I can’t eat enough protein!” Trust me, you’re better off just training and eating what they tell you. You’ll make gains all the same. In fact, being in a caloric surplus is more anabolic than eating simply high protein. Your parents obviously care about your well being, but they are also stubborn. They should be, since you haven’t explained what it is that you’re doing before now. They’ve only seen how extreme everything has gotten at this moment. It’s time to be a man and realize that you’re gonna have to sneak meals. Personally, I’d go to the supermarket and eat cottage cheese containers before going home. Then again, I’d remember that at 17 you aren’t going to get as big as you would if you were in your 20’s. Most of the protein is a waste right now anyway.

oh, um, shit there’s that interview in issue 98.
