I HAAAATE when badass training vids, or any vids for that matter have SOAD songs over them. Arrrrg, have to put it on mute, they were cool for like when I was in middle school/freshman when I was just discovering harder rock and went through a sort of tween “fuck the system” faze LMAO. But i personally just can’t listen to it now.

And on a slightly related note: To each his own and all but, I’ll never understand how people can get a full playlist full of thrash/death/some other extreme sounding metal and listen to that while working out. You’d think a bunch of songs with loud crunchy riffs, fast solos and growled/screamed vocals would have a diminishing effect, if it had any at all.
Can definitely agree with the diversity in your playlist to give proper contrast, but there is alot of differences in the things youre lumping together here. The different subgenres of metal and the bands themselves all have different defining attributes.
Not that i dont appreciate other types of music as well, but for training this it what works for me.
Fair enough, and to a metal aficionado the differences that seem too subtle or are unnoticable to me are probably big enough. I see where you’re coming from.

I couldn’t agree more.

I get so sick of watching bodybuilding videos on youtube too, because all people do is take an otherwise great collection of videos and string them together with the worst possible modern rock songs ever. The last thing I want to do is see the workout scenes in pumping iron while listening to LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOEEEEWHHHHHRRRR NA NA NA NA!!!

I kinda feel the same way about rap.

Look man, as long as you don’t have a problem with Chaka Khan we’re cool ;).
I’m not a big GnR fan… However I don’t know how you go with a “universally accepted” list without this song.

Ugh this is exactly what I was thinking.
Some of you guys are just the worst when it comes to music.

Granted this is coming from the guy that listens to Cheryl Lynn and Chaka Khan when he works out.
I hear you.
I have stuff on my iPod that is embarrassing, but yeah, hearing heavy metal on every lifting vid on the net gets old fast. Sometimes there’s stuff you can’t see anywhere else, but the guy who made the video put that Bodies hit the floor over top of it, or something else similar.
AMIRITE?!?!
Both of those are on my workout playlist, RIGHT NOW! I like eclectic mixes, regardless of what I’m doing. “Say Hey” never ceases to put a smile on my face, and it helps get me out of crazy angry mode. I’ve actually hit PR’s while listening to it that I missed while listening to Disturbed/Rammstein/Drowning Pool/Pantera (which are all on the list too).
Other gems on my playlist include: Hungry Like the Wolf, Sharp-Dressed Man, Hearts on Fire, Mercy (Remix ft. The Game), All Along the Watchtower, and I’m Your Boogie Man.
Heat of the Moment reminds me of the South Park episode when kenny dies and cartman uses stem cells to replicate a Shakeys pizza right next door to another Shakey’s pizza

The scene in the senate is one of my ringtones. When the senators all start singing and stomping their feet. Because of that scene, I have a tendency to stomp and clap during rest intervals.
^ hilarious
