Hi guys, I’ve been training for about 1 year now and the bigger I get the more noticable my pec asymmetry becomes. I switched to dumbbells for 6 months after 2 months because I noticed this asymmetry but it hasn’t improved at all. I definitely gained a lot of mass on my chest but with it came even more asymmetry.
Any suggestions as to what I can do to even it out?
To describe it better; my left pec looks like it has a missing strip of muscle near the lower outer portion of the pec, whereas the right one looks normal.
I attached a pic so you guys can see what I’m talking about. Thanks for your help
It doesn’t look bad. We all tend to be our worst critics.
Tbh, I don’t think you can fix that. Just looks like both pecs insert a little bit different and that’s not going to change with weight training. Most of us have some asymmetries, my left and right side is definitely not completely the same.
i wouldn’t care if it wasn’t that noticable but it is very noticable. i asked a friend at the gym today and he said he can see the asymmetry even without me pointing out where
i even feel a better pump in my right pec than the left one even with dumbbells. the right one feels sore the next day, while the left one doesn’t. i don’t know,i just think it looks terrible, on top of the shitty nipple genetics, the shape is completely off too
Think you’re worrying over nothing. Looks fine. Switch to dumbells and use hammer strength machines to keep everything in balance and just keep growing. You’ll never fill in the gap though.
Your chest genetics are actually pretty good, as some guys you see have a massive wobbly gap of about 2" between their pecs! Now that would suck.
OP, your pecs don’t look anywhere near as bad as you seem to think they do. And the slight asymmetry in the distribution of their origins is something you can’t change anyway.
Further, you look pretty damn good for only training one year (helluva lot better than I did after a year). So in terms of your overall genetics and potential, I’d say you have a lot more to be thankful for than to worry about.
Its noticeable, but the bottom line is you cant grow muscle where there is none. Those spaces on your right pec arent going to fill in. Its just less than ideal insertion points.
From what i can see you still have a pretty good physique, you’re just gonna have to learn to appreciate your strengths more than your genetic weaknesses.
Besides, you keep getting bigger, people arent going to pay much attention to an imbalance.

Your right, but YOU pay MORE attention to an imbalance the bigger you get because it becomes more noticible to you.

If you let something as ridiculous as an asymmetrical muscle group impede your growth, then you probably should find another hobby.

Not saying it should stop you from training…lol that ridiculous…
Just saying the bigger/more developed your muscles get the more the asymmetry/imbalance become more evident to you.
Think of them as your testicles. They may be uneven but your gf will still like to play with them (if she doesn’t, she better have some redeeming qualities).

Is it normal for all 3 of my testicles to hang at different lengths? Or should at least two of them be about the same? There seems to be about a half inch variance between the three.
