Under Armour Recharge

Anyone hear about this or has one? It seems really interesting.

The general idea is that after a workout or game you put this on and it compresses and stabilizes muscle groups and promotes a faster recovery.

Here are some links:

If this works I bet we will be big. It’s a bit pricey right now but if it catches on there will be competition and the price will drop. I’m sure Nike or some other brand will jump on this.

Thoughts?

I was at the NSCA national conference over the summer, and there was a presentation on this.

Long story short, it’s bullshit.

Who’s that blonde chick? I’d hit it.

Well he doesn’t say much in this article but John Berardi list in ways to increase recovery, Muscle Compression.

hmmm nope just found this video but its by under armour…This might be the head professor in the study who knows.

There are some more claims about the under armour recharge in this video

So what they are saying is that you don’t want to be wearing compression shorts/shirts during game play as they restrict some mobility of the muscles?

Doesn’t their whole lineup of spandex shirts already do that to some extent? I’m a little confused.

Using compression for recovery reminds me of a couple of football players that use hyperbaric chambers for recovery. They swear by it.

Those are two completely different forms of recovery. A hyperbaric chamber revolves around the medical use of oxygen at a level higher than that of our atmosphere.

Actually, according to wikipedia, it uses oxygen under increased pressure as you said, but also the overall increase in pressure as well. here’s the link

All i said was that it reminds me that i read about some football players that used this particular device, whether they used it completly for it’s oxygen benefits or it’s increased pressure or both,i don’t remember the precise details.

I cant imagine that that suit is comfortable to sleep in at all.

awww, it’s like one big hug!

I would have thought it’d restrict bloodflow, especially if it didn’t fit perfectly. But I really don’t know, lol.

Distance runners and marathonners have known this forever, just wear compression shorts when you sleep…
