Under 200 lbs Progress/Update Thread

525 Rev Band Squat tonight. 03:02:2011 Rev Band Sqt 525x1 - YouTube Failed on 545.

^which bands did you use?

And are those not seriously extremely fun?

Average bands. I may switch to light next week or go back to squatting. I’m trying to get my body used to handling 500 on my back as that is what I’d like my 3rd attempt to be at my meet.

165 here. I hit 335/225/445 at a non sanctioned meet at my school which are my PRs. What do you lighter guys do for squat routine?
I’m 175 on a good day, What I usually do is
Squat: 5,4,3,3,2,2,1,5
Front Squat 5x5
Leg extension/leg curls 3-4 sets of 8
leg press 5x5
and finish off with calves

It seems to work pretty good with me, I love squatting but at 5’9 175lbs, im not exacly built for it and have the genetics. I do what I can however. My last set of 1 last week was 405,I was fairly pleased with that because my knees arent the greatest. But with my chicken legs, lol like i said i was fairly pleased.

If anyone has any critasism or better ideas PLEASE lay it on me!! I need it!
Are you in Lynchburg? I train at the Jamerson Y.

I’m right on the edge of eligibility for this thread. 5’7 197-203. I’ve done two meets 413, 292, 452 in March 2010 and 452, 331, 463 in September 2010. I have a meet next month. I started training on Strong Lifts 5x5 in October 2008. I switched to 5-3-1 in April 2009. My best gym PR’s are 205x2 OHP (219), 405x9 DL (494), 300x4 Bench (340), and today’s 395x6 Squat (474).

My goals for this next meet are 475, 345, 485 (Raw)

190lbs
5’7"
18 years old

PR’s:
squat: 385
bench: 255
deadlift: 420

Currently training for a meet in April (NASA). It will be my second meet. Goals are a 440 deadlift, 405 squat, and 275 bench. I competed in the curl (power sports division) at my last meet and got 99. Not sure if I will be competing in that again.

reverse band deadlifted 405 today and it came up pretty easy
on friday I’m gonna go for it with no bands and finally hit 3x bodyweight

Thanks! I’ll post a vid of the attempt

Got 335 x 10 today. I’m on the third week of my 3rd 5/3/1 cycle. Aiming for 500 by years end.

405x12 squat, hopefully on my way to 540ish by July 16th at 181lb

Just got my Average Bands from EFS and decided to try Reverse Band DL. Was able to pull 585x1. Can’t wait to see how these will help with lockout.

550 rev band squat - may have been a bit high? but still felt good.

I think my lean body mass is under 200lbs…can I join?

No. Even non-LBM increases leverages in lifts.

no 405 yet, got 385 though which was about a 20 pound PR. unfortunately no video because my friend forgot to save it haha

Good job. A 20 lb PR is always a great thing.

Been hittin’ the low box squats hard for a while and hit a pretty big PR today.

I was shooting for 365 at the meet, but maybe I’ll go for a little more. I’m thinking 385/275/435. Critique on the squat anyone?

Keep your lower back tight and head up. Squat in the damn cage lol.

Chaz did you register for that meet?

I think with a spotter on hand there is no need to squat in the cage. I have never squatted in a cage in any competition but high school. Train like you would for a competition.
