(Un)Official 2025 T-ransformation Challenge

That’s what I plan on doing. Can just be a little disheartening at the start! Especially when the idea of the program is to add weight each session.
As you said it doesn’t hurt so probably isn’t an injury, if it is then must be only slight.

So I think it’s more of a linear progression programme. You’re supposed to add 2.5kg to the deadlift each time you can do the working set of 5 reps. I don’t know much about 5/3/1, I don’t know if that differs.

I probably did start a little. Although I got all of the working sets between 90 to 100 they were grinders at the end. As you said I think I’m going to drop down to 80-85kg and make sure I’ve got each weight rather than I just managed to get the weight up.

I’ve not dropped a huge amount, I started at 98kg. At the moment I hoover between the high end of 94kg and 95.5kg so I’m assuming I’m about 95kg as an average.
I’m trying to lose it as slowly as I can whilst still losing it at a sensible rate.

Yea I’m going to stick with it, especially as at the moment getting stronger isn’t really the main focus, losing fat is what I’m aiming to do.

Not officially part of the challenge, but I hit a deadlift PR yesterday.

295lb deadlift for a set of 2 without much issue (might have been able to eek out a third rep). Used straps, but still. The bar is wonky- stiff and thicker than standard.

I think with a peak and proper bar, I can definitely pass 3 plates now

This is my update on the Crossfit Open 2025. I posted this one on my log but wanted to share here. Today I did the third and final Open workout.

Crossfit Open 25.3. For time:

5 wall walks
50-calorie row
5 wall walks
25 deadlifts, 225 lbs
5 wall walks
25 cleans, 135 lbs
5 wall walks
25 snatches, 95 lbs
5 wall walks
50-calorie row

Time cap: 20 minutes

Me = 159 reps. (I was on the final row and needed 41 more calories to finish)

Notes: This was one of the hardest things I have done. The combination of the high rep, relatively heavy barbell work sandwiched between wall walks was brutal. Because it was the Open and the Rx, I had to complete each rep to full standard for it to count, which is especially tough on the wall walks because, let’s face it, on a typical workout I don’t go all the way to complete standard.

The DL’s weren’t bad. I’m pretty strong at them, and they were early enough on the workout. It was really the wall walks - cleans - wall walks - snatches - wall walks sequence that absolutely annihilated me. Each wall walk felt like it was the last wall walk I could possibly do, but then had to regroup and get another. I’m not awesome at the OLY lifts, but could crank these out in sets up 5, talk a short break, and get back at it. I think I could potentially finish this one if I had a great day, but I never want to do it again so I’ll never know.

Here’s a wall walk in case you don’t know it. I didn’t until I started CF. In the competition there is tape 60" from the wall and 10" from the wall. You must start with your hand on the tape 60" away, get both feet on the wall, then walk your hands back until both are on the 10" tape. To complete the rep, you walk your hands forward and feet down the wall, but your feet cannot come off the wall until both hands are on the 60" tape. Or it’s a “no rep” and you cry silently.

Had my powerlifting meet this weekend.

Totaled 1130.
500 deadlift

355 squat

275 Bench, my only red light of the day. Still got 2 whites though.

Went 9 for 9 and even won 1st place in the old fat dudes class. Not bad for my first meet.

Thanks Simo. It was a good time. Plan on trying to beat my total on September 13th this year.

what weight class was it?

It was an odd class, 259. I weighed in at 255. It would be sweet if I could make the 242 class, and beat the total. That would be impressive to me.

Looking good for 255, I am guessing you are not vertically challenged

Thank you. No, I am not. I am 6’5".

That makes those lifts even more impressive, with that range of motion it would be like me doing 2 reps.

LoL. I have decent leverages for deadlifts, but about everything else is a struggle. I wasn’t sure if I was hitting depth on my squats so I figured I would use the bottom of the safety straps as a guide. Hit the straps and they couldn’t call me for depth because I couldn’t go any lower. :+1:
