I’ve lost zero fat and gained zero strength or muscle since 1/1.
I’m not proud of that.
But to be fair I have been focusing on other things.
However I’m pretty ashamed of myself at the moment and that’s a powerful motivator to do better from here on.
Begin.
Thanks Shane, training is going really good right now, need to ride this train as long as I can.
Definitely leaning out. Great job!
You dudes are looking awesome.
We’re just over 12 weeks out, everyone - time enough to jump on a full diet and make some real visual changes if that’s the plan. Looks like we just started seeing a thaw in the middle of the country, too; perfect timing!
How are we doing?
9 weeks in roughly, 9 lbs down, going perfectly to plan, hoping the final 9lbs gets me significant improvements in definition, not wanting to drop below 190 particularly.
Looking forward to a very long gaining phase!
Finally dropped into the 240s this morning. Body has a set point around 250 so it felt good to see 249 today. That’s almost 20 down for me, and I would like to see another 12-15 by the end of this.
Getting close to two weeks out from my first powerlifting meet and even though I have dropped weight I have maintained most of my strength. Only lift that has suffered any is my bench and it’s not by much. The lower body weight is worth it.
Finishing out my first bulk this week. Gained a couple pounds more than I wanted and I am in full panic mode not wanting to become a chubby mess again.
So, I hired a coach! She is working on my program and nutrition plan and I should have it next week. So excited to put the programming and food plan on autopilot and just follow what is written.
feeling chunky and enjoying the strength that comes with it ![]()
It’s all that cake, mate! (Haha.)

Lot of awesomeness in here! Let’s keep this rolling!
Pretty good! Strength is going up, I have some fresh stretch marks…my bodyweight isn’t making huge jumps but I wasn’t intending on bulking super hard…the intention in this “gaining phase” is to really push on strength and increase my numbers, and wherever my bodyweight goes is where it goes. That said I am up 10lbs from the very beginning of this thing so that’s cool.
If that’s from Jan, that’s massive, or had you started before transformation?
I was 200 at the beginning of Jan and had been at 200 for a while prior to that…so yeah 10lbs up from Jan 1
Updates for me:
It’s Crossfit Open season! The first of the three workouts is this weekend. I was on the fence about officially signing up this year because they removed the Quarterfinals, but after seeing this one I’m in. Not to jinx it (because I’ll officially do it tomorrow), but this one is pretty much right up my alley. If the last couple of years are any indication, the first one is typically a test of strength-endurance, the second a bit more technical, and the third introduces movements or weights that separate the men from the boys (or ladies from the girls).
Here’s what 25.1 looks like:
I’ll post my results tomorrow. Some notes/strategies for those interested:
- Don’t come out too hot. A steady pace is the best approach.
- Step up for the burpees rather than jumping both feet up. So, jump back (you must have your chest, stomach, and thighs on the ground), step up with your outside foot, then inside foot, then laterally jump over the DB.
- It seems the most controversial is how often to switch arms on the DB clean and presses. Some just went as long as they could on one arm, then switched. Others switched every three reps. One guy I talked to that is similar to me in strength/fitness said if he did it again he’d switch every rep. I’m pretty good at the switch. The best is to do right about upper chest level. If you do it at the bottom it’s slow and tough on the back. If you get it right, it’s pretty seamless and smooth. The benefit of the every-rep-switch is simply to avoid fatigue and allow for a more consistent pace. This is my plan at least as of now.
- It looks like the best athletes in my gym are getting into the round of 24 or nearly getting there.
Sorry for the long post! I don’t have any others to geek out on this stuff with.
A little over a lb per week, I’d definitely count that as a huge jump, solid effort there!
I assume that’s where they’re doing 24 reps, not the 24th round?
Geek away dude.
Yes, the round of 24 burpees and 24 clean and press, which would be round 8 (3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24…).
Will do! I geek away to my wife, who is good at fake listening while she reads her book.
Haha mine always asks how I got on, and does a good job of sounding interested, but it’s a different world to her, she has no frame of reference (as you can tell by the annual watching of strongman and the inevitable, how much can you lift on X lift), so it’s never going to stick.
That sounds like a phenomenal effort, 108 Burpees on their own, or 108 cleans on their own in 15 mins sounds bad enough, but together and with walking lunges ![]()
