@EmilyQ just wanted to echo these comments. Pwn says things better than me so just going to quote him.
Ain’t that the truth!
Just bumping this for momentum - entry “rules” coming this week. I’m awarding winners, @T3hPwnisher is supporting those who don’t see the results they want, and @QuadQueen is setting some of us up for the long-term. All goals are welcome, and it’s about the most impressive journey (not the best finished stage product).
Let’s go!
Yet to commit but worst case will cheer from the sidelines. It’s in the maybe pile…
just reading that got me all excited, I am doing my best to do very little between now and the start of this. Then come January it will be time to get busy baby.
That was the original intent many years ago when we started this! The competition adds a bit a fun, and the group adds the support system, but the goal is always about the individuals progress!
If you have been working out this long in your life (I dont exactly e-stalk you but to my gulp 20 years here… You have been a fixture for many of them and I cant remember a time when you werent here getting it done) you are already exceptional.
I have sat out many a years challenge because its just not what I was about in that time of the year on that year… Kids, wife, life, hell even leisure, etc… all were more important than adding in the extra work and dedication required to really go the extra mile for this endeavor… absolutely no shame in realizing your physique goals are not always a top 3 kind of priority.
The gym, the iron, and probably many of us will be around if and when you get the spark back. And if not, thats just the way life goes… Its fine to “just” be a 60 year old woman.
You guys! I wasn’t fishing for compliments, but thank you for them nonetheless.
I’m currently behaving like a complete asshole re: diet, workouts (as in zero of those) while sort of mulling that maybe I will T-ransform in a week or so, once I finish doing the rest of the damage.
Getting ready to bake chocolate chip cookies and spend 5-6 hours eating them on the couch while I do unofficial therapy with a young woman I worked with as a teen. We may go out to a girly lunch, too, and talk more there before coming back for more couch and cookies.
I’ll be ready to throw up a before pic in a week. My cookie intake is coming along nicely but I’ve been neglecting the frozen desserts. I’ll dial that in this weekend.
As usual, I’ve already started my transformation so I’ll be halfway to the finish line by the time ‘before’ pictures come up.
I’ll be here to represent the [mediocre results] crew!
I’m in, and am hoping to avoid representing the [no results] crew.
I probably ate a dozen cookies yesterday. Plus brie. And other stuff. And of course the Christmas dinner.
Today is Italian feast day (“2nd Christmas”). Italian wedding soup at 2ish, antipasto at 3ish, and homemade ravioli, gnocchi, and sauce with meatballs and Italian sausage, with of course very garlicky, very buttery garlic bread at 4ish. With red wine to cheer one another. It’s an actually PAINFUL amount of eating, but the continued positive regard of my stepdaughter rests on my ability to complete the challenge.
The entire my-side of our blended family simultaneously looks forward to it and quakes at the enormity of the task ahead. We’re competitive, and it’s been made very clear over the years that we’re judged on feast performance. My kids are really pale and blond-leaning, though, and were raised by me. They’re streamed rice and grilled chicken eaters. Broccoli eaters! But as @T3hPwnisher at the burger challenge, we gird our loins and straighten our spines. “When duty whispers low ‘thou must,’ the youth replies ‘I can.’”
There will possibly be frozen mudslides along and along as well.
SO. Starting the first I’m cleaning up my act. I’ve decided I’m not ready yet to soften into a different me. I will win the Italian feast, and then will set my sights on my T-ransformation.
I could ask for no greater honor than to be counted among the greats in this post. Fantastically written, and very inspiring!
I have just about talked myself into this… again ![]()
Quality. I feel a gun show coming. Popcorn ready.
Here I am! I am training with an upper-lower 5/3/1 split, enjoying every workout and eating like crazy… i will continue my bulk until late february, then i will start my cut. Here is my before picture: Currently my weight is 94 kg, the heaviest I have been in more than 10 years. At 188cm (6-2) it’s not a bad weight, eh? Ahahahah my skinny-fatness is still visible but I will do my best to get rid of fat while keeping as much muscle as possible. Raoh is still in the game!

Alright here we go. Some creative love-handle-smooshing going on to make me hate myself less, but here we are at the start
202 pounds, 39 inch waist (at the love handles) starting point
Looking to end at… 182 and 35 inch waist would be a realistic goal, and my “stretch goal” would be 175 and 34 inch waist
Much more than that quite honestly takes much more effort and time available than Im willing to commit to this endeavor without giving up everything else I have to do and enjoy in life haha. We will see if I can make a nice push in month 4 maybe if I see lots of potential happening but going balls out like I used to do is harder and harder as my time to do this stuff shrink and shrink.
Going to do some Waterbury type stuff using his latest book (Huge in a Hurry) to test that out and see how that does for me, maybe throw in some loaded carries/weight vest walks for “fun”
So I’m shooting for @T3hPwnisher 's Bruce Randall award. I have my 3rd strongman comp coming up on April 13, 2024. My goal is to walk in and weigh at least 200lbs. I’m currently 175-180lbs (scale broke apparently). I’m also shooting for a 200+lb log press. So basically I’m going to embrace my fate of being a manlet.
The game plan is going to be adding in whole milk and eggs. I’m looking into getting a blender and egg maker to make this easier. I’m currently running Brian Alsruhe’s Strongman Powerbuilder and don’t want to change my nutrition approach until after the competition. After the comp comes, I’m going to dive into Feast, Famine, Ferocity by Jamie Lewis. If the goal is to have a good performance at the comp, I have to keep the “The goal is to keep the goal the goal” and not dive into another system like FFF before the event.
Awesome start, folks!
