Rest assured you’re not the only one. Breaking the habit of pushing and going for more, and needing to dial it back. Was a good TED talk that one too.
Nice! This is probably a lot more important than any weight loss
How do you stay full on this???
I am barely able to stick to 1700, but maybe it’s because I’m more active?
Aren’t you also young? Not to mention just a unique individual with your own metabolism…
I used to eat probably twice as much as I do now. Youth and activity are certainly powerful variables.
Back from holiday today and will be back in the gym tomorrow. Just 2 warm up workouts this week to work through the doms and then start proper next week.
It’s time to start EATING ……
Yes, and speaking of which, I meant to follow up about your own irregular heartbeat. The doctors are okay with this in a 22-year-old? Or they’ve given you advice you don’t follow?
Well, I don’t exactly. When I was feeling full and announcing that I’d turned some sort of healthy adaptation corner, the calories were much higher. I was low during the week, by which I mean husband gone, and much higher on the weekend. What started me was that the averaged daily was so much higher than I’d thought.
@TrainForPain is also correct, my metabolism has slowed considerably. When my kids were teens and I was running regularly I was able to eat pretty much what my kids did. Now that would pack weight onto me instantly, both because of changes in my body and because I’ve reduced running so much to prevent injury.
It’s a funny question coming from you, and one I’m really pleased to read.
Edit: wait, why are you sticking to 1700, which you are barely able to? Why so low? Are you cutting?
Mine is likely inherited since both mum and dad’s side have it. It’s also pretty mild so doctors said not to worry about it too much
The tips they gave were to “eat healthy, don’t stress, get good sleep” which apply to everyone. I do notice that things get scary during finals/project season, but not much I can do there……
Yeah, I’m trying to lose the 2.5 lbs I gained over vacation because I was eating well over 2300kcal a day (relatively higher activity prevented more gain)
1800-1900 is my maintainence so 1700 is barely a deficit ![]()
I’m only 5ft 106lbs so 1700 is “quite a bit” for someone my size all things considered
If you didn’t step on a scale, could you actually tell the difference?
Yes, as a small person, 2.5lbs of fluff is quite visible. I also store most of my fat in my life handle and inner thighs so it’s very easy for me to tell
I endorse this. It probably depends a lot on where you carry your extra weight. But I’m still stunned at how much difference an extra kilo or two can impact how I feel.
Hooray for down lighting
pic is cold/no pump & really effing cold in Texas
I did an inbody a couple f days ago and came in at 9.3% bf, but muscle had increased by a couple of lbs since last measure (Jan 1st), I’ll take it!
Want to get more solid through my abs over the next few months. I don’t train core as much as I should
Looking really solid man
I second this! Be glad when this crap is gone.
Try being in Buffalo. Was 9f this morning and the snow if flying!!!
No snow today but my truck read 11 degrees when I was heading to the gym this morning, we aren’t built for this in the south
10 here, very little snow yesterday.
I agree with @GAINSBYIG
We aren’t built for this ![]()
I like SW Ohio - we get a few weeks of being Midwesterners, so we can claim to be hard, then it’s back to a really mild South where we don’t actually get the brutal summers. Just about right!
Thanks man!
So cold down here too, was an Icy 24c yesterday. I hate it when its cold in summer.
I just started the final week of SVRII today, and my goodness am I feeling good about it. I’m weighing in just below 200lbs, so my weight has been creeping up these past few weeks, but my lifting has been improving really well. I’ve just started bringing conditioning back in at the end of lifting days and hit a single set PR for kb swings at186 a few days ago. Also, I hit a squat triple at 350lbs with quite a bit left in the tank today, AND I have an opportunity to rep PR deadlifts and OHP this week as well.
After I finish the anchor, it’s on to boring but big: beefcake… I’m really excited to see how I fare as volume starts increasing. At the end, I’ll be shooting for 5x10 with 250lb on squats and 325lb on deadlifts.
My main struggle in the past has been eating enough to support training, but as of right now it seems like I’m spot on.
