(Un)Official 2023 T-ransformation Challenge

Good work Simo!

This has been a strange ride and I’m actually sad to see it end. I think I’ve learned I need direction in life, new goals to work towards. Meeting them isn’t as important as chasing them.

I started at 184, Boring But Bigged, creatined, and ate myself to the low 190s. I set personal bests in the bench, deadlift, and squat. Then I cut to my lowest weight in four years and probably my best shape in twenty, at 169.

And now the photograph @TrainForPain.

–I think I look better in person in than in these photos. Maybe I suck at photos? Anyhow, it makes me appreciate how good some of the contributors’ physiques on here must be in person.

Nice job! Photos are always worse than life because they’re 2D (unless you’re good at touching them up)

Alright, submitting my pics now because I have a trip the next two weekends and will most likely forget.

Before:

After:

6 months of consistent training. Averaging 90-100 hour work weeks, pulling all nighters either every 3rd or 4th day depending on schedule. Started with bulking for a strongman competition, then a few months maintenance calories, have been running velocity diet the last 3 weeks since the competition was canceled.

Happy with the results. This time was mainly spent on strength and athletics over physique, but the physique is looking better, and I’m down about 20lbs from the original photo, with significant strength increases on everything but Bench RIP.

Plan is to keep cutting now that I’m not trying for this competition. Happy with how my back is looking, hoping to get some shoulder and chest definition with a few less lbs.

End of challenge pictures posted on my log. I have stopped logging in the last couple of weeks, life got crazy but I kept training well (but randomly) and eating fairly well.

In the process, I have improved a lot my conditioning (from zero to 3 sessions a week of 70/80’) and kept diet consistent. Not perfect but I am happy with it.
If I want to have more muscle I need to eat more but I like my look and how I feel at my age.
Im on holiday now, diet will be out of control for 7/8 days and absolutely zero training. It’s nice to have a break, but I’m at a point where I will go back to good habits easily as soon as I’m back.

This challenge has helped me a lot in staying consistent especially when I was stressed by work/life. Im not the most active on this forum, but thank you all, I read when I can with great interest.

That’s pretty much the best thing about this challenge. By putting yourself out there and telling us you are in, you get to borrow free will and motivation from all of us. We are invested in how each other go and therefore we all hold each other on the path.

great job, looking lean mate.

Lots of awesome pictures rolling in! Don’t forget to post your “afters” by the end of this weekend, everyone!

Before and after , down 4lbs.
@TrainForPain

@boyce79 VEINS!!! Looking awesome!!

You’re carrying a simliar weight very differently - great work!

F**k me this is absolutely radical. That back in particular is terrifying. The Velocity Diet is going to keep treating you well.

Pretty much calling it here. Not entirely happy with my progress but I did improve in all aspects of life so that’s better than just getting bigger and stronger.

Still want more size and strength

As Jeezy once said, “Let’s get it”

Awesome work by so many on here. I’ll post my pics tomorrow. I need every day I can get for my transformation.

My before and after photos. Not sure I can see much difference though. The first is the before photo if you needed to know :rofl:

I’m heavier now but that’s deliberate. Started this journey at 227lbs (from memory) and am now sitting at 235lbs.

@TrainForPain (forgot to tag you originally)

Here is my before and after next to each other @TrainForPain. Started at 164.7 and ended at 173.3. Goal was 175 so I’m happy with my progress.

@TrainForPain
I’ll be the first to enter the “least transformed” photos. Already amazing work in here, great job everyone!

Side by sides

@TrainForPain

Started in the mid 290s and now sitting right around 280 in the mornings. I know for sure I have gotten stronger. I went from barely even able to do 2 pull-ups on my Hangboard on a good day to 8. Kettlebell movements feel more explosive.

Mostly I learned that I don’t need a gym or even a ton of equipment to have a good workout. The majority of what I accomplished at home this spring was with kettlebells, bands, a Hangboard and the hydrocore bag from Onnit.

Velocity Diet worked well and I dropped 8-9 lbs over the last 3 weeks being about 80% compliant with the diet. I am sure it could have been more and I will likely be substituting some shake meals in regularly from now on as I found they kept me from snacking a lot of the time. I wholeheartedly recommend this diet to anyone who doesn’t like dieting and specifically tracking macros/calories - it’s simple and works.

Waiting on my blood work to come back to see if my labs improved from February (last check) and will update here when I can.

I didn’t quite make my goal of 270 but I am happy with where I am at.

Definite visible improvement here, you should be happy. Weight drop doesn’t tell the whole picture, all that new muscle is heavy. Nice job.
