Well… too much of anything is too much. It’s all about balance. If you start your day with 6 eggs and 12 strips of bacon, then hit a couple lettuce wrapped 1/2 pound burgers at lunch, and finish off with a 24 ounce rib-eye - you’re gonna have a bad time.
You would be surprised at how many people who switch from “normal” eating to a more keto/low carb/high-protein diet actually end up gaining weight and then wondering why… Not everyone out there is as smart about their choices as most of this crowd is. I had one client that was eating literal blocks of cream cheese and cups of mayo because they were low/no carb foods.
I really preach on the portion size thing - eat until you’re satisfied, not stuffed. There are no “free” foods - at a certain point everything can and will have an impact. Even veggies - too much low-cal shredded cabbage = a nice goiter. Even veggies have a breaking point. A little variety is your friend all the way around.
@jdm135 - I know you already know all of this, but just throwing this out there for anyone who might not.
This was a big lesson for me. Portion control still applies, and these days there’s so much “keto junk food” that you can totally be following keto to the letter while absolutely violating the spirit of it.
