It’s all the ingredients my grandma used to make a “salad”, so yeah a nice “healthy” lunch! ![]()
Yep. It was taco salad. Mine was minus the actual “salad” though. Can’t do lettuce.
Love having you help us out on here @QuadQueen - thank you!
Operation “see how much muscle I got under all this fluff”, is a-go! Clocked in at 200lbs even.
Happy New Year to everyone.
Here’s my starting pic. Weighed in at 220lbs this morning, looking to drop some body fat.

You’re awesome, I, a dietary disaster, really appreciate your contributions here
This is my goal, too. Looking forward to seeing everyone’s progress along the way.
Very true. I do really enjoy data, but it’s a double-edged sword. Time-consuming as you mentioned, plus I have to remind myself that I’m almost never going to hit 100% at my goal macro break-down; that it’s ok to be a few percentage points over or under a macro goal daily, as long as I’m hitting reasonably within the ballpark as a general trend. Nutritionally my goals are 1#, fuel my workouts #1, and #2 decrease my body fat percentage (but I’m not too concerned about the number on the scale - if I gain weight and BF% goes down, great. If I lose weight and BF% goes down and I still feel strong in my workouts, equally great).
I’ll definitely put this to use! Will start practicing at home to get better at eyeballing where I can ‘check my work.’
Great tips!
I appreciate it! I’m living in Japan right now, so it can be interesting trying to guesstimate my macros when we eat out. They’ve got something called yakiniku out here where you basically order raw meats of various types/cuts, along with some veggies etc, and grill them at your table . . .think Melting Pot, but for meat. I love it, and especially because they tend to be really thinly sliced cuts that they bring to your table (so they cook quickly) can fall into the trap of, “Oh, it’s all just grilled protein, I can have as much as I want!” when really, I still need to maintain some kind of sense of portions hah.
I think that part is still true.
This is 224 lb at 6’4", pic taken pre-training. This is up 12 pounds from the pictures I posted in my log on my birthday in August. The weight gain has been intentional, but not executed very well, most likely. I’m not sure my training plan for this winter spring will result in me looking much better by June. For now, I intend to keep gaining weight. (sorry for the goofy looking shorts; wanted to include the sticks)

@TrainForPain
edit: I am NOT stoned in this picture
I like how carefully you put that; well-lawyered.
Looks like you nailed the weight gain as you’re still lean!
The only true statement in there is that you’re in! Glad to have you.
Your shoulders look jacked!
If you mean jacked up then yes! ![]()
It’s not where you start It’s where you finish right?
Fwiw I thought the same thing as soon as o saw the picture. Arms and shoulders look good!
Shhhh… don’t tell anybody, but it’s fat! ![]()

Weighed in at 137lbs yesterday. Heaviest I have been in over decade.
Well… too much of anything is too much. It’s all about balance. If you start your day with 6 eggs and 12 strips of bacon, then hit a couple lettuce wrapped 1/2 pound burgers at lunch, and finish off with a 24 ounce rib-eye - you’re gonna have a bad time.
You would be surprised at how many people who switch from “normal” eating to a more keto/low carb/high-protein diet actually end up gaining weight and then wondering why… Not everyone out there is as smart about their choices as most of this crowd is. I had one client that was eating literal blocks of cream cheese and cups of mayo because they were low/no carb foods.
I really preach on the portion size thing - eat until you’re satisfied, not stuffed. There are no “free” foods - at a certain point everything can and will have an impact. Even veggies - too much low-cal shredded cabbage = a nice goiter. Even veggies have a breaking point. A little variety is your friend all the way around.
@jdm135 - I know you already know all of this, but just throwing this out there for anyone who might not. ![]()
