Ultimate Guide to Massive Arms

Recently I was given a copy Of “The Ultimate Guide To Massive Arms” by Julianne of TeamStaley. To say thanks I wanted to write a “review” of it. I figure the easiest way is to use the T-Jack form, when something works why fix it?

Pros:

This is a really great book! It is very well written with Coach Staley’s usual sense of humor. It is full of information on how to develop your arms (obviously). One thing I like was that it uses illustrations instead of photographs. I like looking at a drawing better, usually photos are too “busy” and not necessarily clear.

Cons:

It is hard to find fault with this. If you have read any of Coach Staley’s past articles you will know what I mean. It is a software download, although available as a hard copy also. I had mine printed out at the local Kinko’s for $15. I am not much on softcopy versions. For some the drawings may not be a plus.

How was the physical quality of the book? (cover, photos, etc.).

It was a softcopy, although put together very well.

What was the most interesting thing you learned?

How to set a positive basis for a program and to think more about a recovery strategy.

Would you recommend that T-Nation readers pick up a copy?

That’s a definite Yes!

Overall rating: ****

Comments:

For me this was a very interesting book. It is broken into three sections.

Part One: Getting Into The Game (preliminaries):

This is the basics and what to do/not do.

Part Two: The Evolution Of Your Success:

This is the foundation (exercises etc.).

Part Three: The Critical Component To Your Success.

This is about building a recovery strategy.

I wish it had more of a tie-in to legs etc. but that is not the purpose of this book. If you want a book on developing arms and some burning work-outs, this is the book for you. I will update you later on my physical progress as time goes on.

I’m planning an EDT cycle in Feb or March and I have a feeling that I’ll love it to death. The “what can I do in 15 min without burnout” concept seems like a very tempting scheme. When I read those articles it was an immediate out-of-the-box for me.

Thanks Roadwarrior, I appreciate your nice words about the book. Stay tuned for my upcoming DVD, Weight Training That REALLY Works, which will be a total body exploration of the EDT system.

I was one of the lucky ones that was allowed to T-Jack the Masive Arms e-book. I loved it. Staley’s stuff and CW’s stuff is just pretty danged hard to beat.

Thanks Coach for putting your programs out there for schmoes like me.

That sounds interesting, will that be based on a Total Body Workout or on a split i.e. upper body/one day - lower body/next?

Well, it won’t really involve programming per se, although we plan to offer a companion guide that is a combination training guide/training journal. But we’ll explain the underlying principles of EDT, demonstrate some actual PR Zones so you can get a sense of the pace and how to make rep adjustments, and also show how to apply EDT principles to things like Olympic lifting, strongman events, etc.

It’ll be designed to answer any question you might have about EDT, with some additional applications that I haven’t really written about
