EDT

Just curious to see if anyone has tried/has experience with Charles Staley?s Escalating Density Training programs, specifically the Lose the Fat, Keep The Strength, program. I have been reading up on it a bit and was just interested in getting some other peoples views on it, before I gave it a shot.

Thanks. James

I haven’t used the program specifically, but I’ve incorporated cluster training before…I think it’s a terrific approach to body composition. Especially for a less experienced lifter, it’s a good idea to use an auto-regulating program like EDT. Coach Staley is one of the best, and has been for a while. His ideas have helped me and countless lifters like me enormously with our training. I’d take anything from him to the bank.

James, most people love the programs provided by Staley. Just do a search.

I haven’t used any of the programs myself, but I have incorporated the EDT principal in my own program many times and I think it’s awesome.

The thing I like most about EDT is the mindset it forces you into. Instead of twiddling your thumbs in between sets, like you normally would, EDT tends to make you really feel a sense of urgency. That’s the best way I can describe it anyway. The result is that you really attack the weights; which rocks.

Also, Staley seems to be a very intelligent, down to earth kind of guy. Every once in a while he comes out of the woodwork and posts on these here forums, and he always has something good to say, so keep your eyes out.

Go for it bro, and good luck.

Peace,
Ryan

You will shit your pants when you see how effective it is. It’s the greatest training program ever…and it isn’t really a training program, per se. Just make sure you read all of what Staley has to say before you start. I’ve seen so many people get the most basic concept of the program, then proceed to fuck it up by not knoing what to do.

PM me if you want more info.

Thanks a lot everyone, I have consistently been impressed with the level of knowledge a hand in the form(s) and once again you guys did not disappoint; it looks like I have some reading to do, I will keep everyone posted on how it goes.

Thanks again, James

Thanks for the nice words everyone, I have a new article coming out on T-mag soon, just been super busy with clients and speaking. Let me know if you’ve got questions and I’ll do my best to help out

Hey Chris, I was wondering if you have had a chance to look at the modified EDT training routine put forth by Mike Mahler and what you think about it.

EDT is an excellent choice if you want to get a whole hell of a lot stronger and bigger and fast. Just follow Charles Staley’s advice and training tips to the T and you’re gonna get huge. I packed on 10 pounds of muscle and lost 3 inches in my waist line in 4 weeks on this program. Just for shits and giggles after the 4th week I decided to test my strength and sure enough as IL Cazzo said, I about shit myself.

Results:
Incline Dumbbell Presses
Before: 75lbs 4 reps
After: 110lbs 6 reps

Squats
Before: 255lb 5 reps
After: 315 6 reps

45 degree Leg Press:
Before: 600lbs 8 reps
After: 1,100lbs 6 reps

GOOD LUCK. Let us know how EDT works for you.

I should also note: While I’m not huge into arm training, a few months back, I needed a break from all the big lifts. I decided to do the EDT Arms program (arms only 2x’s a week, total body 1x).
The results were outstanding. I wont say how big my arms were or how big they are now, but lets just say they were pretty big to start. After I gained 3/4" on my right arm, and just about the same on my left arm. Forarms went up about 1/4" as well. Since I’m back to regular lifting, I only train arms once a week for a few sets, but I’ve held all that I gained.

What kind of edt set up and training split were you on?

I have no stats or measurements to add, but when using the principles I’ve had a lot of success. It’s not only a great way to work out, but you feel like you’re accomplishing a lot more. When you’re done with an EDT workout you really feel like you’ve worked out, and the energy you have is great. Only 2 problems I’ve found with the program:

1: I’m not sure I’ve sweat(?) this much in my life.

2: You’ve got to carry something with you, marbles are good, to keep people away from your areas for the entire 15min. sessions. People don’t seem to get it when you say you’ll be on one piece of equipment for the next 15 min.
