Diego beat Josh like a redheaded stepchild from South Georgia. (being redheaded I can vouch that that is a serious ass-whooping.

Wow. Can you say, “Owned?” I knew you could. I will give Rafferty props for having the balls to challenge a guy that has never been defeated.[/quote]

Can you say thrOWNED. I think Raferty picked Deago because he knew he couldn’t win and didn’t want to be on team Couture. He did NOTHING in the cage, he didn’t even try. He didn’t even try the defence against the RNC that they went over prematch. He just gave up his back and tapped. Granted, if Deago “Dirty” Sanchez had my back, I’d tap too.

I really don’t know what Raff could have done once it went to the ground. I think he gave up his back to such that he wouldn’t have to have an ambulance ride out of the training center. The RNC defense, unfortunately, would not have worked, because it was applied a bit better than it was to Karalexis since Rafferty was turtling his head.

I certainly agree that Rafferty, in no way, thought he could win against any of Liddell’s fighters. Why even be on the show if you don’t think that you can beat everyone in the house? If you are going to be a fighter, you need a little bit of arrogance. Personally, I would be willing to fight anyone on that show, and I think I could hold my own. Until I am proven otherwise, that is going to be my attitude. Fighters cannot be meek.

Just my quasi-coherent rambling…

Makes perfect sense to me. If Raf had really wanted to win he would have Manned up and picked his friend (don’t rememeber his name). He would have at least had a chance. I still think he just wanted out.

He doesn’t have a warrior spirit end of story.

He didn’t even try to do anything on the ground. And don’t talk about he was being pounded on; he didn’t even have any bruises - Diego wasn’t hitting him that hard. I agree with the others - he walked into that fight intending to lose as quickly as possible. I couldn’t fucking believe it when he apologised to Diego for picking him. Josh just ain’t cut out to be a fighter.

I know pretty much everyone will disagree with me on this, but I thought it was pretty dick of Diego when he continued pounding Rafferty from the full mount when he had many easy submissions available to him. Whether or not he was trying to send a message or whatever he was doing, it was uneccessary since he is obviously the dominate fighter in the middle class ranks, maybe even the whole show for that matter(minus Randy and Chuck of course.)

I totally see what you are saying, but I don’t think that was Diego’s intent. People generally think that GnP is a brutal attack. In truth, GnP is often used as a means of tiring the mounted opponent or forcing him to succumb to a position more conducive to a sub. A fresh fighter can generally absorb or block the blows of mounted strikes with little damage. However, as the grounded fighter starts to tire, or as he catches a few shots cleanly, he will often make a desperate attempt to change positions (e.g. giving up his back), and the other fighter will have an easy shot at a sub.

If Diego wanted to be a dick, he would held Raff when he was in four-points and wailed on his temples. I think Diego did what he needed to win without risking injury. Does he have some seriously loose screws? Oh hell yes. Is he an asshole? I don’t think so, or at least not yet.

Dude, I have the episodes on DVR, and I just watched that beating again…Rafferty exposed his back to Diego and Diego rolled him back over, punishes him for 15 more seconds til Rafferty rolled over again. Diego then punched him a couple of times in the side, then he pauses, looks like he thinks to himself,“fuck it,” and just chokes him out cause he’s bored with beating him.

i agree, however i thought rafferty was
a pussy and chickened out cuz he didnt
want to fight his “friends”. diego is very good and did what i thought was expected of him. being friends shouldn’t
be a factor for a fight, look at chuck
liddel and tito ortiz they are or were
or still friends since their fight and sure it was hard. but correct if i’m wrong on this. i’m just tickled that leben is back. when did superfoot fight
in thai?, i mean danm he’s late 50’s and in good shape but some one 30 years
younger better win!

I’ve started watching a King of the Cage DVD, which is very similar to UFC. It had some of the shows fighters in it. Diego was in three of the fights and he is a bad mofo. Undefeated at this time.

what was with teh quick stop to the fight between Forrest and Choenauer? Did alex s tap and I just didnt see it? or did the ref stop it cuz he couldnt defend himself? I didnt see a tap, but hell alex was defending himself a hell of a lot better than whats his name was against diego last week; and the ref didnt stop that fight til diego got the submission. Let em fight, i mean if the man’s tough enough to take the beating, shouldnt he be given the opportunity to make it to the next round or try to at least get in a better position?

I was wondering the same thing. I was enjoying the fight.

I saw a tap and the ref announced it as such. Alex tapped with his right hand while rolled over to his left. I didn’t see it until the replay.

The ref called it a tap out on punches.

You can see it on the replay, when he rolled over he clearly Tapped Out. Good fight though.

damn what a 'bo!

Have to keep this thread going.

Damn what a war it was. And Leban loses again, this time from a damn nasty elbow, cut him deep, and the doc ends it.

Surprised the hell out of me how it went. Next weeks match, Diego vs Josh is gonna be groundfighting exhibition I think.

you fuckin spoiled it bro i didn’t see it yet :frowning:

next time give us a warning!
