Boring fight for sure. Glad it was not a PPV event.
Unimpressed with both fighters. I’m not really a big fan of either guy. I just cannot get past Nelson’s looks but the guy is slick and very experienced. I always hate it when they are not agressive however. Your on top in fucking mount, rain down some punches or elbows, fuck!
The more I listen to Kimbo, the more I like him. Was surprised how bad he looked on the ground.
IMO, ref did the right thing by stopping the fight. You have to defend yourself or try to advance your position, and Kimbo was doing neither.

i think he was just chilling out till the round was over

You know, I like Slice and part of me wanted him to win, but I think ya’ll are giving him too much credit. His stand-up looked stiff and robotic, his power is way overrated and he literally just layed there as Nelson gave a him noogie. He’s a big guy and he seems very respectful of all the attention he gets, but his star is fading. Hopefully he can make money with his name and retire before he gets really hurt.
Yep. He is just not that talented. He would have to bust his ass to be a gatekeeper in the UFC or even in Strikeforce.
I think Kimbo was suffocating under there. Nelson’s lard was covered with his sweat and formed a seal over Kimbo’s mouth and nose. And a lil off topic- That wasn’t a crucifix. A proper crucifix is done actually from under the guy- check out this crucifix in this fight
Most brutal knockout that I have ever seen. To get there though, Kimbo would have had to shoot on Nelson, which is death if nelson sprawls on him.

Everyone is sayin “All Kimbo has to do is work on his ground game”. Well shit, don’t you think he’s known this for the past 2 or 3 years? Don’t you think Bas knew this and tried to teach the dude? I just think he gets in there and starts banging, gets down and is just too wiped out to move or too stupid to understand what he has to do.
He’s not exactly the most eloquent speaker on the show. He seems a little slow. He’s a very primal fighter and I don’t think he’ll EVER understand what he has to do when he gets on the ground. He’ll remain a lower level, skill wise, fighter in the UFC but will get TV or PPV time because he’s Kimbo. Dana will feed him some trash cans from this show or from the lower rungs of the UFC to make some cash then let his dumb ass go.

Honestly, I don’t think he’ll even make it to a main card on a PPV, maybe a UFC fight night or undercard, but his level of skill is just embarrassing to put on a main card.
That is unless he gets his head straight and improves his ground game.
If I were him I would go train strictly wrestling/bjj/judo for a couple years, basically where he cannot throws strikes at all. That is really the only way that he’s going to get better at grappling IMO, if he doesn’t have the option to strike. His striking is at least good enough not to embarrass him, so he could probably be okay leaving it on the back-burner for a little while.
Kimbo seems like a cool guy but he doesn’t belong in the UFC, he is nowhere near the standard (mind you I am yet to see someone on the show who does look good enough.)
You have to wonder how good Nelson would be if he actually trained properly with a decent camp.

And at a real “fighting weight”. Seems to me the guy could cut to 205 before he got in decent condition.

it looked to me like Nelson was coasting, doing just enough to get the “W”

Very surprising that Roy did not submit Kimbo. To those who are complaining about how hard Roy was hitting Kimbo, my reaction was that Roy knew he was going to win and didn’t feel that it was necessary to smash Kimbo’s face in. Kimbo is well-liked and everyone appreciates his humble attitude, so Roy did what he needed without seriously injuring a rank amateur.
YEAH it sucked to watch but you are exactly right…even before the fight he was telling peoplpe to count out the strikes out loud because as long as they are unanswered long enough it makes no difference how hard they were. he pretty much executed his plan exactly as he wanted to…but yes it was horrible and boring to watch.
I’m taking Scaub to win it, he has pretty sick credentials. Golden Gloves champ, TKD since he was 6, BJJ Colorado champ, former division 1 football player, and he trains at Jackson’s.

Skill level and the almighty $ don’t always correlate.

Don’t forget it’s sports entertainment.

Very true, but again, I don’t think they’d put him on a main PPV card just yet. Maybe some undercards to see if he can even hang with the lower tier guys, or maybe, maybe a fight night, and if he wins a few, then maybe try him on a main card.
Money is important, but Kimbo doesn’t have the draw he did in the recent past. Even most of the uneducated MMA fans realize that he’s not the fighter that EliteXC billed him as. He’s a second (or possibly third or fourth) tier fighter and will likely never even get to fight a top tier fighter (unless maybe they feed him to them to give them an easy W). And he’s been exposed twice now.
And it’s not that I don’t like the guy, he honestly seemed like a humble, cool dude. He was trying to make money on his name, Dana was trying to make money on his name, and neither is a bad thing. But if he ever wants to even draw PPV numbers, then he’s got a lot of work to do in terms of his skills (especially ground skills).

smart, but that’s not gonna make him many fans…
Totally, in the format of TUF it makes sense to coast to a win and avoid exerting yourself or getting injured.
Also I wonder what he would weigh if he was a little more ‘in shape’
“ever get that feelings like you wanna just punch someone in the face and ya hand keep going out the back of they brain and you know you pull that shit out and YAAAa then throw it down and spit on it… then kick em in the nuts?”
Rampage is a d-bag. nothing better than being late to a fighter’s fight to get him ready (didn’t he miss one of his guy’s fights the last time he coached?), and then having a tantrum when he loses and not going into the cage. and then complaining how he has the worst luck…woe is me. and then making some grand statement about not teaching his fighters to improve their position.

what a tool. i’m glad he’s not fighting anymore…
It didn’t make a difference other than the fighters mentality when he entered the ring knowing his coach was there to back him up. Rampage is a terrible coach, the best advice he gives from his corner is " Yeah man do what you do" " Do what you gotta do" " yeah keep doing that" " win" I haven’t heard some decent advice yet, the most useful was " hit him"
