Ultimate Fighter: Rampage vs Rashad

you know kimbos BEEN in MMA for like 2yrs maybe alittle bit longer and trained with Bas for at least a year. I would think his ground game would be better than that. his takedown defense is better i’ll give him that but the fact that there wasnt a real attempt of pulling guard while Roy was basically between his legs showed how alien the ground still is to him.

Yeah,Kimbo went for a knee after Nelson was trying not to get KTFO. He lost his balance and Nelson fell on top of him. Looks like Team Rampage focused too much on escapes and not enough of control with Kimbo.

Roy Nelson clearly won,but it was definitely a subpar performance from him. Plus, his ego is fucking ridiculous. Oh well…on to next Wednesday.

You know, I like Slice and part of me wanted him to win, but I think ya’ll are giving him too much credit. His stand-up looked stiff and robotic, his power is way overrated and he literally just layed there as Nelson gave a him noogie. He’s a big guy and he seems very respectful of all the attention he gets, but his star is fading. Hopefully he can make money with his name and retire before he gets really hurt.

Not so impressive win by Roy. Kimbo’s ground game is non-existent. I was pulling for Kimbo, but guess it didn’t happen.

Surprisingly, Rampage not only did one, but two things right:

  1. He was sensible about Marcus Jones and his knee injury, saying he’s not going to let him fight until his knee is 100% (but he may end up fighting next week, who knows). Also, didn’t know Marcus was so sensitive.

  2. He was sensible about getting Zak to roll with Kimbo, to simulate the size of Roy’s belly (how you gonna get the moon off of you)?

Interesting part at the end, about Marcus looking in serious pain, Kimbo may be coming back, and an apparent traitor on Team Rashad.

I understand you gotta do what you gotta do, but come on fatass, is that anyway to fight? He looked like a whole lotta gravy over a burned biscuit.

so let it begin… Roy won but in winning he looked retarded. Theres more to winning in the ufc than beating the guy. You gotta looked good or dana wont keep you. Roy obviously dominated the ground game and made kimbo look stupid and at a complete loss as to what to do to get out. But Roys pitty pats on kimbo’s head was gay.

Honestly i felt he should of pursed a sumbmission cause his stomach was in the way of hitting kimbo in the head. BUT KIMBO come on! Roy was riding so high on him before he had kimbo totally tied up that even the lowest level grappler could of bucked him off. Kimbo looked like he gave up pretty much from the time they landed on the ground. Roy didnt even have to try and get into mount or side mount. There was really no resistance!! In the end roy did the right thing getting to the ground and controling position but looked like a lazy bitch for not aggressively trying to finish it with a bloody GNP or SUB. I know if i was Roy I would’ve wanted to put an exclamation point on that fight to prove that i was the man!!![/quote]

He did finish it with ground and pound. What fight were you watching?

DUDE…Roy is a scrub ! As soon as Kimbo laid a stinger on him he just laid his fat ass across his torso and thought he impressed everyone. Who in the world could have a ground game with 265 pounds of tub laying on your torso and head ?

Kimbo is still learning and will get better as time goes on, I just hope they get to fight again and Kimbo kicks the shit out of him. It looked like Roy Nelson didn’t want to make it a fight…smells of bitchassness !

  1. Roy is a fat lazy bastard…but he’s a smart fat lazy bastard. This is why he hasn’t been in the UFC and was stuck in the IFL. He does just enough to win. He knows this. He doesn’t care about exciting the fans. He just gets in there and does enough to win knowing he has a couple more fights to go. I think I heard him say before the fight that he’s just going to get Kimbo in a crucifix and hit him…and what did he do?

Roy will fight in the UFC and he’ll win some fights because he knows what he has to do just to win. He’ll never be a headliner. UFC will drop him and he’ll go somewhere else. At the end of his career he’ll have like 100 fights because he never got hurt by never really putting on a show to get the big fights which risk injury. He’s happy taking his small paydays over and over again and going home.

  1. Kimbo sucks. I’m off the bandwagon. Before TUF I thought Kimbo was the worst thing that ever happened to MMA. Well Dana’s marketing machine got to me and I was on the Kimbo train. Well that shit got derailed last night. He is not a great striker. He has a punchers chance. That’s all. That’s it. His power is ok, but he is not Chuck Liddell. He’s not Brock Lesnar strong. He’s not this powerful striker you really have to watch out for. He gasses like a 35 year old who has never trained seriously…oh wait, that’s what he is. Roy took some shots and was smart enough to shoot and take him to the ground. Game over.

He’s had 3 years to learn ANYTHING on the ground and he’s learned NOTHING. He’s an uneducated idiot that cannot learn a damn thing. He wants to learn, but he can’t. He’s just fucking stupid. It’s been 3 years and he still pretty much looks the same as he did in his YouTube videos. I understand…boo hoo I’m 35 and all I know how to do is fight and I have kids at home and boo hoo wah wah wah. Fuck it. You suck. Kimbo will always be a scrub.

Thankfully there’s lots of scrubs in the HW division. I read somewhere someone said he should try dropping to LHW. You freaking kidding me? They actually practice BJJ down in those ranks. Kimbo will probably come back on the show and he might even get a win against one of these other scrubs. He’ll have 3-4 fights in the UFC because it makes Dana money.

As far as TUF goes…3 shows, 3 horrible fights. Dana keeps pushing the Kimbo card. Someone will probably get hurt and Kimbo will come back…even though someone like Shivers should come back instead. Yet again Kimbo screwing over other fighters because he’s “KIMBO”. Put Kimbo in there with one of the NFL hay stacks and Kimbo gets a win. In fact…after all this is said and done and we start seeing some of these guys on UFC Fight Night, etc…that’s what we’ll see: Kimbo v one of these TUF scrubs. THATS IT!

That’s why the majority of these fighters suck. Dana doesn’t care about the development of the HW division. He’s working two angles here: “KIMBO the Phenom” and “Roy Nelson the IFL Champ”. Make people love KIMBO and they’ll pay to see him fight and hope for a win (oh dear!). Make people hate Roy and they’ll pay to see him lose. I think Roy knows how to “turn it on” when he needs to. Shit, he’s a freaking black belt in BJJ. He just didn’t care to show his stuff against someone with the skills of a middle school wrestler. I still think Roy wins the season.

uhmm, a professional fighter.

I really did not like Roy’s style. Should the fight have stayed on the feet, I think Kimbo would’ve started pushing the pace, and knocked mr big country out. You could see, as soon as Kimbo started picking up the pace, he was landing a few bombs on Roy. I saw a real nice body punch that made his whole belly jiggle like santa claus. But then, down it goes. Even on the ground, nothing impressive. Crucifix, but you could only see the very top of Kimbo’s head. And Roy was basically love tapping him.

You saw at the end of round 1, Kimbo stands up unfazed. Roy basically just got into a dominant position and then didn’t do anything. I think if Kimbo spends some SERIOUS time improving his ground game, he’s be lethal. If not, then he should start spending some SERIOUS time developing amazing takedown defense.
You gotta give it to the dude, he’s definately got the right attitude.

Weather he’s took old to get it done or not is debatable. But he’s humble, coachable, respectful and eager to learn, all of which makes a great student. My Kyoshi has always taught me, take someone with no skills, but the right attitude, and you can teach them anything over time. Someone with great talent but a shitty attitude, can’t learn.

I have to say, as a fighter…that shit was unimpressive last night. Lay and pray is gay.
That crucifix was fuckin’ worthless and those were little bitch taps.
Why didn’t the master of Ju-Jitsu slap Kimbo in a kimura when he had a chance? OH! he tried and couldn’t! Fuck fat Nelson.

War Kimbo.

I agree that Roy’s attitude and manner of victory were unimpressive… but “your boy” looked beyond unimpressive. He looked amateur.

Yep, another unimpressive fight. I was really hoping we would see some huge stud athletes kick the shit out of each other this season. So far, no way. I am impressed by Kimbo’s attitude and demeanor, not at all the thug you would think by looking at him. Roy is a fat tool. Part of the reason I think Kimbo couldn’t escape was because he was being suffocated by that belly.

If you looked at it, his face was completely buried in fat, with only the top of his baldness visible. I can’t imagine that he could get a breath in that state. If it was me, I would have tapped due to puking from fat man stench.
To Roy: “YOU ARE A DISGUSTING FATBODY PRIVATE PYLE!!!”

do you really consider that ground and pound? I guess you didnt read “looked like a lazy bitch for not aggressively trying to finish it with a BLOODY gnp or sub.” BLOODY is the key word. I dont feel what roy did was a ground and pound. HE put kimbo in a crusifix were kimbo was unable to defend.

I’ll be the first person to say Kimbo needs more focus on his ground game during training, absolutely. He’s a beginner on the ground, it’s well known.

With that being said, Roy should’ve been able to tap the big black buck. This Roy Nelson seems to be quite the fucking hype machine if you ask me. All the fights I’ve seen him in are kind of bleh. He doesn’t impress me.

Kimbo, work on your ground game! Fuck!
He needs little to no work on his strikes, I think he hit Roy maybe 10 times and Roy got scared and bruised.

I’m just super unimpressed with that victory. Kimbo’s human, he can lose just like anyone, but I call bullshit on this one.

it was so freakin lame it was almost pathetic. it looked like a fat bully kid from school laying on a nerd

I agree with this. Kimbo’s stand up looks kind of…weird. I was expecting him to be more fluid. Maybe he was nervous or whatever but he definitely did not look good standing up at all. Roy with all his belly looked more balanced and coordinated on his feet. Roy’s ground game was quite UMimpressive. He’s a JJ black belt but could not finish the fight in a better fashion.

From watching the episodes so far, this is what I get:
1 - Conditioning seems a problem for every one so far so it seems like nobody was really training before coming on to the show.

2 - For the past 2 years, it seems Kimbo didn’t really train well. This is not being down on Kimbo, just an observation. For some one training consistently for two years and have this kind of progress is very discouraging and unacceptable. He’s a good athlete and physically gifted so this leads me to think, for whatever reason, he has not been training seriously.

Very surprising that Roy did not submit Kimbo. To those who are complaining about how hard Roy was hitting Kimbo, my reaction was that Roy knew he was going to win and didn’t feel that it was necessary to smash Kimbo’s face in. Kimbo is well-liked and everyone appreciates his humble attitude, so Roy did what he needed without seriously injuring a rank amateur.

Just seen Kimbo and Roy fight last night. I have to agree what everyone is saying, lame fight. When Roy had him in the crucifix you can see Kimbo didn’t even bother trying to get out. I know it would be hard to have someone who is 264lbs on you (trust me a fat friend I wrestled with would just do that). Kimbo could at least move his legs to do something or not let himself get in the crucifix a second time (terrible ground understandable). It looked like he went to bed for the night when Roy got on top of him.

ROY is fucking full of himself and I hope he gets KTFO in his next fight. Like KTFO not just ktfo but KTFO!

I imagine Kimbo will be back soon due to Marcus being ill and we may get to see Nelson V. Kimbo II. This seems very Rocky Balboa to me for some reason… I think if they meet again it’ll be a different story.
