Ultimate Fighter: Rampage vs Rashad

that fight was pretty sad for both of them. I figured shivers would only have one good round in him.( theres only one brock and this should go to prove again what freak athleticism he has for a BIG guy) McSweeney looked pretty gased to though.(its understandable when he’s trying to get out from under 275 pds.) BUT his technique wasn’t that good for a guy who had 100 thai boxing fights. From the get go his hands were retardedly low which is idiotic against a guy whos taller and has a longer reach. he also charged in with his hands down and chin up. Half the time he didnt even throw a kick or feint to close the distance. If he tries to do that against Kimbo he’s gonna be asking what happened while hes laying on his back. James won but not that convincingly.

Riddle me this, guys who say mcsweeney won, how the fuck could you score the first round in his favor?

yeah that fight DEF. was scored wrong, that was bull… all he did was throw leg kids and a few punches…

good fight though !

i think kimbo is gonna run through roy nelson… hes just a fat ass blob

That’s what I was thinking…I could even see an argument for Shivers getting a slight nod in the second. Shivers had control on the ground and took McSweeney down at will…did I see an attempted Kimora in there? He also got his F’N back!

The only time I saw McSweeney in control of anything (granted I missed like a minute of the 2nd round) was when he started landed leg kicks in the first (come on!!! F’N leg kicks!) and he landed a pin point shot or two on Shivers’ chin in the second.

At the end of the fight I was thinking SHIT one of these NFL dudes is going to pull it off! And then…“no entiendo?”. Yes, Shivers technique is crap. It’s hail mary or takedown…but shit it’s a heavyweight fight what do you expect. Take a look at this fight and you’ll see why they haven’t had many HWs on TUF especially a whole damn show…2nd tier HWs run out of gas and look like shit.

KIMBO KO’s Nelson’s big mouth. This week was a total set-up for that. Gotta love TV editing. Nelson is shown all cocky talking about him being a master…a master at what? Eating donuts and being a fat ass? Dude looks like a younger fatter Tank Abbott with a worse haircut!

Oh, I just remembered the guillotine McSweeney had on Shivers…which Shivers got out of, of course. Lasting impressions are a bitch. Should have gone a third…then it would have gone to whoever didn’t fall asleep first!

all i know is kimbos gonna run through roy…

Yeah, I’ve gotta agree with you guys. I was sure that it was either going to be a decision for Shivers, or it was going a third round. Who the hell was judging that fight?

i was watching the clock on my tv and realized there was no way they could fit another round in. Besides the would of just stood there breathing for most of it. UGLY!!! you never know roy could get lucky. I dont see it happening but mma is very unpredictable.
As everyone has said i depends on if roy can tie kimbo up and get it to the ground. If i remember right roy has good ground control.

Yeah, I could tell at 10:55 they weren’t going for a 3rd round. With TV editing you can tell if it’s going to be a 3 rounder just by when they start the fight.

I’m not sure how they weight the scoring, but keep in mind McSweeny got a lot of solid leg kicks on Shivers, every one of those was a point.

On top of that, McSweeny seriously rocked Shivers at the end of the 2nd round as well as putting him in that headlock. He made the impression on the judges at the perfect time.

Everyone who broke my balls when I said Kimbo is going to do well because he is in shape should now understand. Look at shivers. They said in the episode he walks around at 285 and fights at 270. Thats 15 pounds of weight to cut and anyone who wrestled in highschool knows, cutting weight = cutting energy. Thats why he was gassed out 3 minutes into the fight.

What do you think is going to happen to Nelson? He has to be walking around at about 285-290. All I know is if he stand there with heaving with his hands on his hips or leaning on the cage like Shivers did, Kimbo is gonna eat him up you know he is going to capitalize on ever chance he gets.

But the judges can’t go back and rescore the first round. The first round stands alone and I can’t see how McSweeny won that round on leg kicks alone when he got punched hard and taken down gave up and arm and a back. Granted, Shivers didn’t do much with it…but he was on top and working. Takedowns > Low Kicks.

Here’s a good question…what if Kimbo wins by decision?

What if Roy can’t get top position on the likely stronger Kimbo? Nelson I’m sure has to cut a lot being so portly and could possibly gas? I know he’s always been big, but he looks really out of shape. Do you think he just came in thinking “I’ll walk through this”? If he can’t get top position or take Kimbo down and this turns into a boxing match do you think it just goes to a decision and Kimbo wins?

How about Roy’s chin these days. Being knocked out by Arlovski is clearly on his mind being his first time knocked out. When Jackson asked him if he wanted to get knocked out again Nelson looked a littl ghostly.

I say either KIMBO by knock out 30s in the first round or KIMBO by decision.

BantamRunner, I completely agree. I don’t see country gravy winning this.

No…what you say now is what you should have stated in the beginning. You originally stated that Kimbo was in better shape than ALL the other guys. That’s why people were breaking your balls. Get it right.

Going against Roy Nelson will only prove that he has better conditioning than Roy Nelson(which most of the cast probably does) Any other argument of his “top of the chain” conditioning remains to be seen. I have no doubt that Kimbo is in pretty good shape…but lets see how he puts it all together. Conditioning by itself doesn’t guarantee a win.

I think this fight will be something else, no matter who wins. I think we’re gonna see a MONSTER slugfest.

Shivers was robbed. Roy better finish Kimbo (and I think he will in the 1st round) because these judges suck and will probably give Slice the decision no matter what happens.

chinctown34, what? You really think Kimbo is gonna drop it in the first round? No, if Kimbo loses it’s most likely by decision OR some how country gravy locks in a sub.

Good 'ol Seth P didn’t have a problem putting Kimbo on the canvas…but I’d say his hands are much better than Nelson’s…even if he did take the fight on one hour notice…you don’t need much of a plan to sit and bang. I know people give KIMBO crap for losing to Seth…but Seth has been in martial arts since he was 7 and has been kickboxing.

So I think there are really two types of fighters that can easily defeat Kimbo…the kickboxer/muay thai guy who has pin point strikes and the BBJ guy who can get him down with ease. Your run of the mill HW in the UFC is neither of these.

I see Kimbo developing as a Chuck Luddel type…evade and counter, sprawl and counter. He doesn’t need to be good on the ground, he just needs to stay off the ground and learn how to roll down there and get up or get stood up.

i think the worst fight in mma history happened on the latest tuf episode… the nfl guy versus the flying high kick off the fence guy… ive never seen two people rest on opposite ends of the octagon, when the fight is actually going on.

sad.
