put him on a non-PPV fight or two with some lesser-known guys to give him a couple more wins on his record and a little bit more experience. This would also give the light heavyweight division, which has the most people who can claim contender status, a chance to sift out a little bit. Maybe give Jones a couple of cans and then let him end the career of Liddell or Ortiz.

I have to say that I was very disappointed with Houston Alexander. This camp, he was working his wrestling with Ron Coleman, the 7th ranked high school heavyweight in the nation. Coleman is heavier, stronger and a better wrestler than Kimbo. You’d think some of that skill would have worn off on Houston. However, his takedown defense looked even worse than it did against Schafer. He probably lost his job with that fight.
I really liked the Edgar-Veach fight. Veach came out looking much bigger than Edgar and was really overpowering him, but I think he tired himself out slamming Edgar to the mat. Frankie looked really good second round and validated his spot as a top ten LW.
Jones losing was rough, but he’ll come back better. He thoroughly dominated Hammill, but sometimes bad things happen. Even Fedor has a loss on his record though, and it was due to a cut from elbows. There’s a funny coincidence right there.
Good fights last night, didn’t expect most of them to end the way I thought. Marcus had the choke in on Matt, I thought Mitrione was done. Man, he does have some power in those hands. Looks like Marcus has a glass jaw, which sucks because he has great JJ and a lot of potential.
Kimbo has really improved his game. I thought the fight would end in the first round, like a lot of people thought. Props to him and ATT for working on it and getting better. Nice slam in the second round also.
Didn’t expect Roy to go lights out on Brendan. Schaub is a good fighter, but he’s young, and from listening to his interviews, he’s a little too cocky and arrogant. I heard a pre-fight interview where he said “Roy’s never faced anyone like me. I know he’s fought Arlovski and Monson, but he hasn’t faced anyone like me.” He has a bright future though.
Good card overall imo. Sucks for Jones, but rules are rules. I really thought the Kimbo fight would end quick, but Houston looked like he didn’t want to scrap with Kimbo at all. I love how at the end they both put their hands on their knees. Kimbo has improved alot, and I hope he goes places. Does this mean Kimbo is a LHW now?
It looked like Alexander threw that fight to me. Both of those dudes aren’t known for their ability to take a punch, but they are known for their willingness to bang and Alexander just cartwheeled around the cage for 15 minutes. GAY. Jon Jones got robbed and Hammil knew it. I stepped out for 10 minutes and missed the Nelson fight. Mitrione has hands and Darkness can’t take a punch. Franky Edgar is fun to watch, and Veach looks like pocket Hurcules.
I’d be shocked if Houston Alexander ever fights in the UFC again… but wtf was up with the judge who scored it 30-27? In what possible universe did Kimbo win the first round? I thought Kimbo clearly won the second and I probably would have actually given Alexander the third, but both guys looked like shit. However, I don’t think Kimbo landed a single strike in the first round. At least Alexander landed some leg kicks that clearly hurt Kimbo a little bit. However, one thing I have to wonder: if Alexander’s plan was to wear Kimbo down with leg kicks and win the fight late… why was his conditioning so shitty? I’ve got to question whoever came up with that plan.
A final note: could the announcers get off Kimbo’s dick? Yeah, he looks improved on the ground, I’ll agree. However, everything Kimbo did the announcers were busting a nut over. Screaming, “He’s got the arm around the neck!!” when Kimbo had his bicep gently pressing against Alexander’s chin, in no danger of choking him out, makes them look dumb.

I’ve never rolled before, but…
If somebody was performing that spidermonkey piggyback RNC on you, would you:
a.) Press back against the cage, allowing him to get more leverage on the choke until you tapped out.
or
b.) Spin around and at least fall on your back, allowing for the possibility that his grip will loosen and you will be able to escape.

Jones is absolutely frightening. He got robbed there, but the next question is, who will step in and fight him? As the announcers said, nobody had manhandled Hamill that well before. There are many worthy adversaries in the division, but are they willing to risk potentially being put out for a long time by Bones? Hamill got his shoulder seperated and nose broken, but is was suspected he got his clavicle broken Jones inflicted so much damage. Forrest has been known to go where nobody else has gone before, so Jones versus Forrest, winner gets Title Shot? The big thing here is Evans. He fights Rampage next no matter what I think. Silva beats him, and Machida wins, well Machida already had disposed of Silva once. In that case, who should get next title shot? Forrest coming off a win over Tito doesn’t have enough I think, Nogueira just has one fight behind him. Nogueira has already turned down Vera so that is out of the question. Jardine is now tied up with Bader, Wanderlai is going down to fight Bisping. Forrest was slated to throwdown with Silva, before Silva got Jardine. So
Silva versus Forrest, winner gets title shot? I hope Nogueira would be satisfied with Bones as an opponent, because I think soon he will be the man to beat at 205.
Oh and please give Marc Bocek some better fights now. Three wins in a row now, move the Canadian boy up
The LHW picture looks like this.
Machida vs Shogun rematch
Thiago Silva vs Rashad (Rampage fights winner).
Lidell vs Ortiz.
From here I see a few things happening
I’m thinking Forrest will fight Nog.
Cane is interested in fighting Rich Franklin (I think the catchweight fights are over).
Bader vs. Jardine
Krystof vs. Bonnar
So Jones vs Brandon Vera?

Definitely B. Paulo Thiago had Jon Fitch in this same move at 100, and Fitch waited for the right time to fall on his back.
Brammer obviously did A, hence why he got choked out.

Fallin on your back is the equal to a hail mary in football. If it fails, your done.

And like I said, I’ve never rolled (and only been training MT for about 4 months) before, so I’m legitimately curious as to what the recommended escape for that is. I just saw that Brammer was clearly still conscious when he tapped, so he could’ve done something. I’ve never seen a guy get tapped on a standing RNC before so I was curious about that.

Anyone think its weird that the next tuf will be coached by Chuck and Tito, again.
Side note: Jones’ fighting style reminds me alot of Anderson Silva’s. Unorthodox at times, yet frightening speed and power.
But with Greco-Roman ;-)
Jones is so impressive to me because he’s extremely coachable, very athletic and in his physical peak. He also has that great wrestling base which will be the kryptonite to many a fighter at LHW. The human body in terms of speed and power tends to peak in the mid 20s, so he has a very big advantage athletically speaking over fighters who are peaking as fighters in their early 30s. I think him and Mousasi are the future at LHW.
