Ultimate Fighter: Rampage vs Rashad

I thought he was too involved with being in the A-Team movie, he may not even fight anymore if he can get regular acting gigs.

Couple of things…

I was reading the Sherdog boards and all of a sudden, people are hating on Roy Nelson! Before he was in the finals, they were all on his balls.
Originally I thought Nelson was an arrogant prick, but as you see more of him on the show, it shows he’s a cool dude that doesn’t take himself too seriously and can joke around but when HE NEEDS TO he will out fight them.

He’s an intelligent fight and I dig it.

This season, I left it liking a few of the dudes…

Marcus “The Darkness” Jones
Roy “Big Country” Nelson
Kimbo Slice

…I honestly don’t understand why people continously bad mouth the dude (Kimbo), he’s trying to become the best fighter he can. He went through TUF and did work with ATT after the show, people still hate on him. It’s so dumb.

After reading all the hate on those two dudes today, I hope Nelson beats the shit out of Schaub and that Kimbo KO’s Houston so hard his family feels it.

RAMPAGE NOTE: According to his official site he WILL be fighting again, according to MMAJUNKIE, it’ll be at UFC 110 or 111.

What cracked me up was that their argument style descended through the season. At the start they were making some actually funny quips. By the end they were just shouting a ridiculous phrase ‘why don’t you treat me like a bitch’ over and over.

I think it’s more a matter of him getting special treatment because he’s the legendary Kimbo Slice, and not because he’s necessarily earned them. Well, that and the ridiculous amount of hype he ALWAYS gets. Oh noes, Meathead might not be able to fight? Time to call on the man who deserves another fight the most, Kimbo Slice! It gets old real fast.

Having said that, I do have more respect for Kimbo as both a man and a fighter after this season of TUF. He truly wants to better himself and to hone his skills so he can compete with the best, and that’s something I respect. That and the way he handled the arthritis in his knee (i.e. not being wishy-washy about it like Mitrione).

I used to really dislike Kimbo. I guess it was because the only time I saw him speak was in prefight shit, and he talked alot of crap- like any fighter does before a fight. Over the course of the show, some of his glamour kind of wore off- a good thing in my mind.

He showed that he’ll work hard- I think he shoulda got the nod over Mitrione. I have nothing but respect for the man and hope he can do great things in the UFC. Nelson lost respect in my mind. If he had won the fights like he did, but not talked shit like he was Mike Tyson, it woulda been better.

But he basically did the bare minimum to win- a win’s a win, but people pay to see a show. Flame me but he’s boring to watch. I want the darkness to do well to. So much potential imo.

I hope and pray Carwin fights Nelson some time soon. And when he bashes his head in, gets in the camera Brock lesnar style and shouts “HOW ABOUT THAT DOUBLE WHOPPER NOW BIOTCH!!!” but Carwin probably wouldn’t say something like that if you paid him…

If you mean okay fighter then I think you are mistaken. The guy is like 3-4 or 3-5 and is absolutely horrible. I loved how his lil love taps made him think he was tough shit and Roy almost put him away with 1 punch.

That guy is a bully and deserves everything bad in life that happens to him and then some. FFS talking about how he was glad the guy he was picking on finally stood up for himself but thought it was the wrong time. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense McSweeney. Hopefully next time the guy will wait until you are asleep then fucking stab you.

When Marcus took his last fight to the ground I was like “that guy is buttfuxed”. Proved me wrong in surprising fashion.

I remember watching McSweeney get mauled by Al Turk like two years ago. Then, all of the sudden he reappears on the countdown show for Machida vs Evans and acting like king cock on TUF. Don’t think he has much of a future in the UFC.

The Rampage vs Rashad garbage made me feel bad as a black person. I hope it was just promotion.
I bet it made down-low brothas feel great. They want to know why they just don’t keep it real and have sex with each other.

The trash talk seemed more pathetic and dumb with the fact that these two are not fighting anytime soon.
I got it admit, it was some high school trash talking.

And we can say the “Down Low” brothers for the Oprah show shivers

Also, did you see the promotion for the movie the UFC fighters made? Looks awesome…
A lot can be attributed to editing and contrivance. I mean, Dana probably wanted a lot of “drama” in this season of TUF, and he picked his coaches accordingly and ensured that they’d go at one another. There really can’t be another reason Dana picked Rampage to coach again since he can’t coach worth a damn.

Really, a lot of fighters have enormous egos. It’s not hard to get them going at one another verbally.

I do have to say that my respect for Evans increased a bunch. He definitely cares about being a good coach, looking out for the welfare of his guys, and seeing that they succeed. He is also apparently good at picking assistant coaches. In short, he’s a good leader.

I’ve always been a fan of Rampage since he trains in my hometown. But, like Tito, I may have to dump him.

yeah, this makes sense…most of the fighters this season were so chilled out, it was kinda boring. yeah, Nelson thought he was the shiznit, but he really didn’t talk smakc to anyone. and Mitrone just kinda went off on his own for his little deal…

Big country puts Brendan on queer street. Ouch.

wow…pretty much none of those fights went how i thought.

wtf was up with Houston?

Marcus Jones needs to stick to BJJ competitions…he’s got a wicked glass jaw. (but he still seems like a hellofa nice guy)

that sucks that Titties got even fatter, and now has to go to Afghanisthan. well, maybe the KO will keep him from deploying…

i like Roy, but i did not predict him KOing Schuab. wow…

Sucks about the DQ for jon jones…

Why would Jones get DQ’d when the elbow didn’t cause the shoulder injury? Should’ve been a no-contest.

The blood was in his eye?

More importantly where was the warning?

who won the kimbo v houston fight?
bignate wrote:

Kimbo won, but it was a close match and will be discussed.

In my opinion, Kimbo won only one Round, but his display of power and skills was unexpected and eye catching.

Kimbo kooked so much better than he ever has on the ground. And so strong as well, he had some great takedowns. But he was rolling with houston alexander lol… so i guess we cant say too much about his improved ground game yet.

I’m still so choked about that DQ though…jon jones is going places.

I was telling my friends how I didn’t like how Schaub was keeping his hands low…with no good footwork or head movement…right before he was put out like a candle.

AND damn Darrill…did you have to go and make your nickname even more valid…sheesh. Don’t know what happened with him between July and December. I’ve met him on several occasions…very cool guy and wish him the best and to stay safe overseas. He should have never moved up in weight, imo.

Sucks for Jones that he lost, but it won’t derail his career at all. He beat a decent fighter like a drum and he’s only going to get name fights from now on. It cost him money, which sucks for him, but it will be similar to how Rumble Johnson lost a lot of money when he came in overweight, but still got a good name to fight on the his card.

I don’t know who his next fight would be though. Luis Cane seems the most likely matchup to me. A win (likely, IMO) on a PPV undercard would give Jones the name to be able to take on one of the “name” contenders that aren’t quite in line for a title shot.

I guess the other possibility is that, since Jones is only 22 and did just technically come off a loss, they are going to put him on a non-PPV fight or two with some lesser-known guys to give him a couple more wins on his record and a little bit more experience. This would also give the light heavyweight division, which has the most people who can claim contender status, a chance to sift out a little bit. Maybe give Jones a couple of cans and then let him end the career of Liddell or Ortiz.
